the problem is that gbpvr needs you to pass file names to play, and cds with digital content hide the .cda files, so if you want to play audio cds without .cda files you will probably have to play it using windows (not gbpvr), which would mean you would have to monitor the events inside gbpvr and stop audio cd playback when video starts or another music file is played.

that was the way i wanted it....not using gbpvr, just windows. it's the only way, audio cd's with data tracks will work. i thought of using the va-panel and supply a new panel, which uses the music-panel-skinfile to display the information on the main menu.

the best way would be, to tell gbpvr which track is playing...

ok, i can read the disk id and play a cd. i can lookup every information i want from any of the freedb-servers. but i have problems getting album art.

this will have to wait. for the first release, the plugin will play a cd and display album information from freedb, nothing more (well play/pause/stop, shuffle/repeat and ffwd/rwnd will work).

has anyoune some code for looking up album art?

i had to use a seperate source, amazom.com, when user request info on a cd (its not an automatic thing) it first does the freedb.org lookup then once it gets the artist/album it passes that along and does a amazom.com search and displays a result set for the user to choose from.

i think this will be a thing for a database....the freedb-lookup will go automatically. the information will be stored in a db, referenced by the diskid. if the user wants album art, he will have to select it from a popup menu. a list of available album images will be displayed, the user will have to choose one, then the picture will be stored on the local harddrive and referenced in the db.

i don't want further user interaction, since it has to be a really simple plugin. open drive, lay in cd, press play.

if you want you can use the same db as my music does, which also stores it by discid (theres two tables, and AudioCD table, with review, albumart, etc and a CDInformation table (probably rename it) which stores information about each track, two primary keys are DiscID and Tracknumber).

i'll have a look at it. the problem is, there may be users not using my music. i'll have to provide the my music mdb, too and advice them to NOT download it, if they have my music installed.

the pro is: the information is stored once and can be used with both plugins...

you could just do what i do and exclude the mydatabase.mdb from the plugin zip and say you also need to download mydatabase.mdb aswell. that way when the plugin is update they dont accidently replace their mydatabase.mdb file.

oh have you found a way to monitor the cd drive and recieve events when its ejected/closed to update the cd track list? the only way i know how to do it is via polling (which is a really bad solution), trying to google for it is a little tricky...
