if a file is too large for dvd it won't add it, maybe that's what happened...
yea, say lines only remmed out on install,so you should be fine...Smile
also, doesn't work properly if renaming files with another utility like Renamerecordings..

without the voice prompts, hard to tell when added too much for dvd...Smile

Ok it happened again. I added one file and then reselected the file and did the burn dvd. This time I looked at the dvd-que file and it was empty. Hence the missing files. Not sure why the dvd-que file was empty.
After that I did essentially the same procedure and this time it appears it's going to work.

Let me know if you have any ideas on what is going on with the dvd-que file.
Also I don't know if you want to mess with it, but it would be nice when the dvd-que file is empty that it wouldn't try to burn a disk.
Possibly as an alternative just be able to view within GBPVR the dvd-que file so you can verify the burn list is correct before you try to burn a disk?

Thanks.

hmmm, not sure...use same file both times? it doesn't matter which file you choose when doing the 'burn dvd' selection as it's not passed by gbpvr to the batch....so any file will do..Smile

need more details...try doing it a couple times, checking the que file each time...and what is it saying when you add the file? is it voicing the size?
also size of file added and name would actually be helpfull...
[could be particular file name or size, etc.]

pBS Wrote:yea, i left it that way on purpose,so people could burn a compilation more than once...Smile but on further thought, i probably should delete after if successfull...
not hard to re-build the list...and yes the prob. about hanging when files don't exist would be fixed...

just add "del /q %dvdque%" just after the "say DVD burning is completed" line at bottom...
will add this to next upload...Big Grin

I'm on a fence about the auto-delete myself- I can see it being handy to have it persist and then I just "clear all queued prorgams" or whatever the option needs to be before I start a new project.

I just put this on my setup and it's nice! Thanks very much! But, I can only get 2, 1.8gig programs on a single layer DVD and I'm sure the first announcement said up to 4 were possible Smile Smile

Along the line of transcoding, is there any configuration parameters I can set to improve the quality of the transcode used here? The test programs I put on a DVD are on a channel that's a little noisy and after put onto the DVD the noise seems subjectively worse- I'm not sure if that's real or not, and I haven't burnt the blanks to see if the mpg-->DVD software that came with my PVR-350 makes the DVD with ummm... the same amount of noise as present in the actual recording.

Thanks very much for a Nice Thing.

hmmm,i don't do any transcoding, just add dvd nav packets for dvd authoring, video and audio isn't touched, file is only basically remuxed...
but your computer does do some things to video when viewed on it...but most dvd players are higher quality output so they show you exactly what's in the recording...the pc, depending on decoder, can clean up the signal or add some blurr to smooth noise out...to clean it up you'd have to actually transcode, and ususally that only makes things worse..[garbage in=garbage out]

oh and as many as will fit on dvd can be added...no limits at all anymore...
[except size of dvd!!]
2 1.8 gig files = 3.6....then plus another show at 1.8 would be over the dvd limit...effectively removing the last one an leaving you with the first 2 only...
if that happens, the voice should say "the last file is too big for dvd"

i make it reject anything over 4.5 gigs as that is usually all that will fit oin dvd.
if a show is larger than that all by itself, transcode using something else then burn it...or cut it in two....Smile mencoder and ffmpeg can do this easily..

when adding files from VLib, you can see how big each file is for a sec. in that dialog...remember not to go past 4.5 gigs total...

for dual layer disks, not sure if it'll work but you could try modifying the size parameter in batch, and setup imgburn's dual layer support for your system...
[just run imgburn.exe and set options and save..]

oh, and to make it just create the files without burning, just rem out the imgburn line at bottom...
or empty dvd drive...Smile [no disk = no burn]

< joke> the limit of 2 * 1.8 gigs makes sense, but you promised as I wanted! Smile < /joke> The process and size alert proceeds just as it should.

Thanks for clearing up the transcode issue (non-issue). I wasn't sure about the noise and wanted to rule out possible recoding issues. Darn squirrels chewing on the cable line anyway.

yea,it's just an approximation cuz i have no idea how big the files will be after remuxing, [they change slightly, usually get smaller by a few megs] so i just approximate what the size willl be after and so far within about 20 megs of a totally full as it can get dvd...[without going over, which would create errors and having to restart the process..]

i really have no idea why they get smaller, maybe padding being removed...but i remuxed with another util and it did same thing...[files shrank a bit]
most files that are 'dvd compatible' have empty nav packets..eg:0000
i think when filling in those values to author dvd, it replaces 0000 with the real number which is smaller in digits,eg:11 or 35 or 122...less digits...

using dual layer disks would allow much more time to be put on discs, but the blanks are wayyyyy more expensive...$1.+ for a 2x DL vs $.30 for a 16x single layer]

you can also play with imgburn command at bottom of batch to output .ISO files instead of burning them...[save the files as the 1st showname.iso or date or manually rename]

p.s. you *can* burn as many shows as you want...just insert more discs! lol :p

Is there a way to figure out what you are burning to the dvd before you burn it? Like preview what the dvd will look like?

I thought I burned and transcoded a Pink Floyd concert i recorded, but it turns out i burned some other program. I would have known it was the wrong one if I could have seen a preview.

Thanks for the help

Just before you go down this road, you should be aware that DL disks don't play the second layer in standard DVD players. Effectivly, they are only seen as single layer disks.

Strangely enough, the standard decided to have the dual layer at different depths for commercial DVD's and for home burnt ones.
