I loaded up Gspot.... on my SPC and it says:

Splitter/Other: MainConcept MPEG Splitter
Video Codec: MainConcept MPEG Video Decoder-->DivXG400
Audio Codec: MPEG Audio Decoder-->Morgan Stream Switcher

I've tried installing the MainConcept decoder on my LRPC but when I run GSpot on that it says the Video Codec is Intervideo WinDVD.
Should I try uninstalling the Intervideo program to see if that helps, or will it not make any difference?

Thanks for the help norman

it would make a difference, but you should be able to force gb-pvr to use the mainconcept decoder.

In the gb-pvr configuration application, under playback (I think), you can choose your preferred video and audio decoders. You may have to edit the allowed decoders entry in the config.xml to be able to see the items in the drop down (I had to for my elecard decorders), but once you get gb-pvr using a specific decoder instead of the system default then it works much better.

I typed in an existing file into test app and it played successfully in windows media player. Then tried recording in test app again now it does record but when played back the picture is clear but horizontally aqueezed, and runs fast with the sound starting normal quickly distintegrating. No change with GBPVR

hrm, i've found that windows media player is not the best thing to view mpeg2 files with unless your decoder setup is perfect. I've had quite a lot of success using the Elecard MPEG2 decoder as the preferred decoder for the moonlight compressor (no surprise there, elecard and moonlight are the same company). VLC and VirtualDub are more forgiving when it comes to codec mismatches.

Norman, as I said before, is there anyway to have the software encoder be a secondary tuner? Whenever I install the plugin, it changes the priority and I can't watch TV with my PVR 150MCE...

miochza: err, you'll have to ask sub about capture source priorities. The recorder plugins are just responsible for doing the work, they have no control over which ones get used. (i.e. i'd love to be able to help - you and myself, but i am unable to Sad)

arlieyoung: the latest build is currently on post #196, but it is also always be avalible from the wiki page. It does have install instructions in the bundle yes.
