Hmm

1) When I click the back button on my remote whilst in the main menu I'd like the selection to move to the 'Exit' button.

2) I'd like the date and time displayed on every screen

3) In live TV I'd like there to be a bar at the top of the OSD which shows how much of the programme is left/has gone. Basically a similar thing to what is shown in the other OSD's.

4) Picture In Picture. Basically I want to be able to watch two channels of live TV and three films at the same time :-)

5) To be able to add "markers" to media files (contained in a text file like the cutlists that GBPVR recognises) that work like chapters on a DVD i.e push a button and playback will skip to the next/previous marker.

6) The option to have recordings in progress appear in the ready and what's new selections. They can be watched so it seems logical to have them there.

7) The video library to be more like the recordings library i.e. metadata, pictures in menu-items, folder.jpg etc.

8) The guide button should toggle while watching video files in the same way it does in live TV.

Just, please, whatever you do don't change the way fastforwarding and rewinding works.

current tuner status with each tuner on the main page would be great (ie, 'tuner1 currently recording 'xxxx' on 'xxxx' finishing at 'xxxx' etc etc)

also, indicators for pausing/mute/etc onscreen would be nice, as half the time im not sure if ive paused the show, or theres been some muck up and ive had a crash.

eg, you'd get:

rather than the current:

Also, perhaps an option to hide the [..] "go up one level" icon that is shown, for those of us who use the back/exit/escape buttons on our remotes to perform all navigation.

I agree with this and would add "intelligent numeric sorting" so that it is:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

and isn't

1, 10, 2, 3, 4... and so on.

Assuming your going to keep the RECORDINGS UI the same, I have a small request. Could you Please add a sort button to sort the shows (in Pending and Recurring) by name and another by channel number (by time is optional). It's a pain to go threw 100 scheduled shows to see if I got all occurrences of a show on the various channels.

Perhaps some of the other skins already do this, but I only ever use Blue...

A (relatively) simply UI enhancement might be to add a gradient paint to the blue bar that holds the programme name when you bring up information. At the moment it's just solid blue with white text, and very plain looking. There's probably plenty of other places where a splash of gradient painting (or some swishy background painting like on the main menu itself) would help to bling up the display a bit. And hopefully be very easy to code too.

Here's my wishlist:

1. Categories for recordings. Preconfigured in config? Either chosen at record/schedule time, or later from the recordings page. Means you can sit down to watch something, and only have movies to pick from, or kids programs, or weekly stuff etc.

2. Multiple recordings destinations/folders. Either specify where to record at scheduling time, or later move the recording. Would AND wouldn't want to be limited to seeing just one location's recordings when browsing recordings. Extra free space pie chart(s) would need to be added to system menu.

3. Background/screensaver. I use photo backgrounds in slick and the photo screensaver. I see lovely big pics with their edges darkened (like this feature!) while using the app, but just little postcard sized ones when the screensaver comes on. Maybe something simple would be if the screensaver, instead of being a completely seperate thing, just turned off the menus and made the backgound pics change every few seconds, instead of at seemingly random times. Also, the background doesn't handle portait orientated photos very well - can it just display the photo with bars on the sides?.

4. Disk space pie chart. On a client PC this shows the free space of the local client, not the actual server's recordings directory.

5. See the current time on all screens.

6. Wildcard recording. Would love to be able to tell the system to record anything on any channel (or optionally limit it to specific channel(s) only, or specific timeslots) where the name matches a certain string. EG: *Ghostbusters* would record "Movie: Ghostbusters" or whatever variant they might name it as. This would mean that I don't have to know that it's coming up, or on what channel or when, but if something I know that I want comes on, anywhere, it'll get recorded and it will be a nice surprise to see it in the What's New list someday. Smile I know this would be handy as I've seen NZ channels have a consistent name for a whole season of a show, only to rename it for the last episode, causing it to not get recorded.

Similar to this, how about an alternative method of viewing the TV Guide, where it could just show you a list of all upcoming movies, sport, and so on. Just a big list of all matches across all channels, sorted by time.

Add my vote for this.

The web site Excite.com let's you display your EPG this way. Here are two screen caps to show how it works. The first shows all categories being displayed with a pull-down list to show which category to filter on and the second shows a listing of only movies.

Also note, the buttons View Grid and Full Listings let you switch back and forth to a subset ( that you predefine) of all the available channels. The plug-in TV Listings already provides this ability for those of you who are not familiar with this alternative to the TV Guide plug-in.

You can kind (of) achieve that already in GBPVR by colour-coding the EPG. I was thinking more of a straight textual list (like the search results). So for your example above, you'd get:

[Movies]
06:00 Bride Wars (37 HBO)
06:00 Sweet November (38 HBO2)
06:00 Purple Violets (39 HBOSIG)
06:00 Stick It (58 ABCF)
06:00 The Corruptor (???)
06:30 Meet Joe Black (39 HBOSIG)

It gives you an easy way to scroll through the list and see what's on (and worth recording) for the day(s) ahead. As you highlight each entry, I'd expect the full details for it to be displayed somewhere; again just as the search results do.
