arlieyoung: by fixing it I meant just stopping it crashing Smile can you try out build 14, and send me the log files. (I've added extra debugging info which should help me figure out the mixer issue.

Hey free doesn't mean it has to be substandard. I'm a great fan of the open source revolution and there's no reason why open source can't be just as great as any product you have to pay for and can't do anything you want with (Like giving you friend a copy legally).

build 14 is out:

New in 0.14 - April 9th, 2005
- Fail silently if mixer pin being turned off has issues.
- Added extra debuging info for mixer pin alterations.

Thanks Norman for previous advice, installed v12 software recorder, now I have live preview showing. now if I record anything the video plays at 2X speed, and audio disintigrates into intermittant noise. If I use another program eg powerdvd or media player the play back is the same, so I think it is an encoding problem. I am using the moonlight encoder. Using recorder test it says it is recording, but the file size dialogue says unknown. On play I get an error message it cant find the file, on checking thre isnt ne to find.

Ok, I have 14, working great so far except for the sound playing while its recording...I think my I should tell you this about my setup.. Not sure how other Hauppauge cards work, but to get sound for my card I have to run a patch cable from the tuner card to the sound card line in.. so thats what i choose for the audio capture.. could that be why it plays while recording? I could probably just go into sound settings and mute the Line in....not sure why I havent thought of this before lol, WOW, what do you know..it worked (just now tryed it lol!! that amuses me,*im dumb*)

And see? you thought it was your plugin Smile sorry.. Now that that's settled, i wanted to also ask you which logs(if you still want 'em) you wanted and how do I timeshift? (pause live tv, etc)

oh, i should probably retract my last statement.. Just checked out a CSI that I recorded...only 11 minutes recorded..and there are around 30 files in the folder, alot of them at 0 bytes.. what gives?

BUT, all my menu's, errors, compatitbility issues are gone as far as i can tell...

oberon: very odd. If you use a program like VLC, or MPlayer, or VirtualDub what do they say? (Media Player and PowerDVD are going to use the windows default decoders which are useless, other apps vlc, mplayer, virtualdub do their own mpeg2 decoding and generally do a better job). VirtualDub is the best, but is the most cumbersome.

arlieyoung: Well the thing that was breaking, was meant to turn the mute on and off. So if you can me the log files that get updated during your testing (should be gbpvr.exe.log and gbpvrrecordingservice.exe.log). I should be able to tell from those files what needs to be fixed to get the auto mixer setting changing working.

The reason you will find multiple files, is that if the encoding gets stuck, it tries to re-start the recording in a new file. Unfortunatly sometimes it gets reaaallly stuck and you end up with lots of zero byte files. I'll probably add something that ignores zero byte files. Not sure what drivers you are using (OEM/vendor or the btwincap drivers), maybe try the other option?

I dont have those , but have also tried intervideo, and pinnacle pctv, they all work fine themsleves, but when trying to play the file created by GBPVr produce the same speeded up video as GBPVR. if it is the MPEG encoder (moonlight) ( ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling) do you know of any others I could try as an alternative? when I look for these I can only find ones that act on files rather than videocapture, or can I use those out of the other programs I have, in which case how do I get them to show as alternatives in the config menu?

hopefully i got the log files attached,ok.. it says .zip but originally it was .ace hopefully you can still open it. if not just change it back to .ace and use winace

I was having some problems compressing the files so i copy and pasted both logs into one and compressed it

about the drivers, I just used the ones from the hauppauge web site.. there are different ones?

also, i was asking about timeshifting...can you do that with gbpvr?

you can kick timeshifting mode off by hitting pause or ctrl-q. i use 7-zip which is not happy about ace files, but i'll see if i can dig out a copy of winace somewhere and use that. In future try post in zip,arj,bz2,rar,tar or gzip.
