I guess what confuses me (caused by my lack of knowledge) is that it just sits there with the spinning logo when I try to watch an in progress recording, but if I hit pause while just watching something and then press play, it seems to work fine - and isn't this in effect watching while recording playing catchup?

Martin

I'm not sure I follow.
Does this mean you've found a workaround where you can play an ongoing recording on the F-model? Or are you referring to the fact that you are able to pause live TV?

Live TV and ongoing recordings differs in how they are streamed. I don't know the details but the media player handles the two differently.
I think the best chance of fixing this would be to tweak the streamer (subs department).

Sorry, my post was badly written - Just sits there when trying to watch a recording in progress. The bit that worked was when pausing live TV.
Your mention that the two are streamed differently clarifies my confusion.

I see Samsung has just released a firmware upgrade for my TV - I'll give it a try in the hope that the media player has improved.

This is AWESOME. As a long time MVP and NMT user I've been dreading the day I had to add a TV to the house and couldn't get another NMT to access NPVR. But after a few minutes of fiddling around i had this up and running on my new Samsung TV (PN60F5500 if anybody is tracking these things). Now I'm debating if I even have to run cable to the TV and get a new STB or if I can run LiveTV over the network instead.

Thanks fred250!

Just picked up a Samsung UN32H5201AF. Is this model supported? I see the TV Requesting the app with wireshark but the app doesn't seem to install.

If you are using the apploader there may be a firewall issue but since you're a wireshark'er I guess you got that one covered Smile

On some models a security check prevents the app from installing. On older models a popup would tell you the app was not installed, on H models it is just silently ignored.
In my app its Knockout.js that's to blame. But I doubt it's a real threat, I'd say someone missed semicolon or something and the code is not syntaxly correct.

The good thing is I've found a way around this problem.
Instead of installing the whole app onto the TV the main app is installed and served from your NextPVR server and all thats installed on the TV is a thin launcher app.

Use this new version of the Samsung apploader now renamed SmartTV apploader to install the app.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9995...loader.zip

I've not had time to write a proper manual but it shouldn't be that complicated.

- Download, unzip and run the tool on the machine where NextPVR is installed.

- On the “NextPVRWeb tab” use the green button to install the “stable version” into the NextPVR Web (where NEWA is installed too).

- On the “Samsung tab” select “NextPVRWeb launcher” and install onto your TV.

- Now start the launcher and input IP of your NextPVR server.

If things are working you should now see a setup page from the actual app and you will need to input the IP again along with any options.

Good luck!

Cool, App Installed. But it gets stuck with the spinner on play. How do I get back to the configure screen?

Hi Fred, just tried your app out on my UE55H6400 smart TV and initially the navigation buttons worked but now it is stuck on the TV Guide option and won't allow me to navigate to anything else. If I 'OK' on TV Guide, I get the TV guide listings OK.

Is this a 'known' issue?

No, idea why it gets stuck on "spinning".

Stop or return should get you back to NextPVR UI, from there press 0 three times in sequence to get into config.
* Streaming option left on /Stream
* Seek hinting off for H-models

Nope, not that I know of.
If you exit the app and restart it will the problem persist?

That's the problem. I can't exit the app. I have to go back to the TV/Guide etc. Then, when I select the app again in the smart hub, it goes back to the same place (selects TV Guide) and left/right buttons don't work.

I'll help debug if necessary.
