Why not fire up comskip and only translate the IR keys to keyboard key events being send to the comskip debug window.
Its certainly not beautifull but it should work.

erik Wrote:Did some of you try the cutpoint editing function of comskip?

I wonder if, apart from the user interface, the functionality is OK.

Umm... no, I forgot that it was in there. I read that it was a long time ago, but never got around to trying it out before forgetting about it.

It's great, actually. I mean, as you said it could use a bit of an interface improvements. I keep having to look at the list of command because I can't remember them, as simple as they are. So, buttons on a screen would be nice but otherwise it's really better than any of the alternatives I've tried.

The only other advantage something like the basic editor included w/Hauppauge cards has is the ability to play the video and hear the sound. Sometimes the sound starts before the video fades in, especially dark scenes.

Does comskip learn as you use it (if so what file is it writing to with the learned info) or does it just go day to day with the same info? Because if it's the Dictionary file, I have yet to see it grow in size from learning......JAQ

thanks

Learning in Comskip is one of the most difficult problems.
Many people have requested it but I have not yet found a good way to do it.
I tried a neural network and it did learn but the results where not as reliable as a well tuned ini file.
So for the moment no learning, even not with the dictionary file.

Thanks for the tip. By the way, as an enhancement request, could you have comskip write all the output files instead of just the .txt file when the user saves their changes? You provide lots of output options when it runs in automated mode (I'm using the edl option for feeding into mencoder), but it appears only to write the .txt when saving manual marks.

For now I just wrote a simple perl script to create the .edl from the .txt, but I'm sure others would probably find the feature useful too.

Thanks again for all the time you devote to comskip. It's quite remarkable.

indeed, it's remarkable!

Erik, I have some questions:

1) Does Comskip use the soundvolume to detect commercials? the volume of commercials is higher than the volume of the show.
2) I found a text file with some kind of ascii drawing (of a logo?). What's that?
3) Nowadays the broadcasters set the logos in motion very often. How do You cope with that?
4) You asked me to send You information about at which framepositions I would like to have the marks. how do I identify the frames?
