I just did ('cause it didn't work anyway Wink ) but it all runs fine now....does that help ?

UncleJohnsBand Wrote:Before I "break" my setup Wink I can see your reg file is incorrect....you have it removing hkey_local_machine when the settings are in hkey_current_user.....is that really the problem?

RemoveZprocess.reg removes setting from both Current User and Local Machine

First of all, it won't hurt. It's there as a throw back to my first few builds when I was storing data in the hkey local machine. After I switched to Current User there was some growing pains. If it's not there, nothing is removed. Even accidentaly. I even tried it on Bill Gates's computer. Well, I think it was his...

Anyway, if you're nervous, just jump into regedit and go to software/Zeritech/Zprocess for both local machine and current user. delete both those ZProcess keys....

Thanks

I hate to say it but there's been another change to the registry structure. I made the mistake of putting everything into HKEY_Current_User assuming it would be good to allow for keeping differnt users' data seperate.

unfortunately, GB=PVR recording service (and MVP server) doesn't use the current desktop session's registry. In other words, you could save your settings when you test, but when GB-PVR calls ZProcess, it pulls different values...

On the plus side, anyone that had this work, was working with just the defaults, and that means the defaults are good. On the minus side, anyone who spent any time tweaking the settings, probably didn't see much change, and was therefore, not seeing what ZProcess can really do...

Please download the whole zip file again, and run the RemoveZProcess.reg again. You will have to setup ZProcess again..

I think that other than this faily major glitch, it seems to be working pretty good, and I don't anticpate much major change.

But then, those are the famous last words...

Thanks for all of your patience...

OK so a new install.....let's see......

here it comes:

=>Transcoding works fine, I'm using the 384x288 output and it's alligned fine. I've tried 336x252 but then it needs shifting to the right, the strange thing is that doing this with ZProcess it makes the shift to the left even worse.

=>Playing mpeg's with ZProcess-ffmpeg works like a charm but..........
playing avi's (encoded on other machines with divx/xvid codec) reboots the MVP. Playing these same avi's with the original ffmpeg is no problem.

just to let you know.

Oh two more things:used MVP rev D3A-PAL and how do I remove the ZProcess entry from the "open with" menu? I accedently used it while not having Zprocess set up and it zeroed a movie......

SuMo Wrote:Euhmmm I guess I wasn't clear on that one, what I meant by "standalone" was to make an Installer, that copies all the needed files into 1 folder (C:\Program Files\ZProcess), auto creates the folders it needs and registers the prog. Without the need of having GB-PV installed (ZProcess does look for GBPVR.exe but it would be nice if it doesn't need it)
As far as I know, ffmpeg may be freely distributed. dono about comskip etc. ... so maybe........or am I talking cr@p right now ?

The version of ffmpeg that comes with GB-PVR was cranked out custom, I think. That said, it's still GPL, I think.

Anyway. Yes, I could package it... My VB does have a packager, and I could take care of everything... Just wanted to make the inital and followup installs smaller. My target audience is the type of person that is NOT comfoiratble with batch files, and reg files, and editing...

What's important to remember is, you should not adjust cropping or padding in ZProcess until you are satisified with the Output dimensions...

With the fine tuning zeroed out, if 336x252 is shifted to the left, then those are numbers you don't want to use.

What you are looking for is a picture that is close to correct aspect ratio, with approx equal padding on top and bottom, and pretty much centred horizontally. If you get that with 336x288, then great, save that Output dimension, and then start fine tuning the squish and pan etc...

Remember to save your setting everytime you make an adjustment and then try on your MVP...

ZProcess does not play video files. If you are watching an MPEG with your MVP, GB-PVR is feeding the MVP the MPG directly (natively)

AVIs can not be shown on an MVP natively, so AVIs need to be transcoded into MPG. MVP asks gb-pvr for avi. GB-PVR asks ZProcess to start fmpeg so that the avi to mpg transcode begins, then the MVP starts to play the currently transcoding MPG file.

The MVP reboots when that MPG that is being transcoded onthe fly, is not being created fast enough, or is the wrong format...

If the Transcode works when you use the original ffmpeg, using the commandline from config.xml then ZProcess should also work, as it uses the same default information.

I know about MVP not natively playing avi's and it calls ffmpeg to transcode on the fly to mpg using the commandline that's in the config.xml
As you said Zprocess uses the same default info, is what I thought it would do.
but I can't figure out why it's crashing when using the same file with the default ffmpeg in place it plays fine, but using the (ZPocess)ffmpeg and the renamed fmpeg, it crashes. Well...call me stupid but I haven't got a clue.
