Mine seems better now. One request though, now that I have it updating 3 times a day is it possible for it to occur in background rather than launch the information dialog? Maybe just have the task bar item change colour?

Thanks as always!

I've added a new "-onlyupdateepg2" command line option for the next release which will not show the dialog window.

AlanC Wrote:I has some gaps in my EPG. It appeared to be just channels ITV1-4. I had a look at what the EPG was picking up and found it was just CITV, see dvbepg-11-2a.xml attached. I then tried your patch which produced something quite odd, see dvbepg-11-2a.xml. This would appear to be data from the wrong channels. But, now the good news. Similar stuff appears in all the other scans so dvbepg-11-zb.xml. Hey Presto, ITV is restored!
I hope this helps, if not then please tell us about recording the stream.
Sorry, this isnt really clear to me. Is this new mechanism putting the shows on the wrong channels? If so, then Arg!

Please explain in more detail.

Apologies, sloppy use of names! The XML files contain show information with correct service_ID that ends up on the correct channel in the TV Guide. What I meant to say was that the file dvbepg-11-2b.xml contained service_IDs that were not on the same frequency. In this case ITV1 is service_ID=8258 on T:C45,666000,0,0,8 so I didn't expect it to appear in dvbepg-11-zb.xml after a "SubmitTuningRequest(T:C46,674000,0,0,8~P:99~V:99~A:99)" (taken from the GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log)
I renamed the xml file after each scan so I could see what was there.

Good, this is what the change was supposed to do. I previously only read what they call the "EIT" tables. With this patch I'm also reading the "Other EIT" tables, which contains listings for other muxes.

So the question is, does this seem to work correctly for you? ie, are the listings shown on the correct channels in the TV Guide?

ahhh, that'll be why I've got listings for loads of channels I can't get suddenly appear! It does seem much better now, though sometimes there are just big gaps in the EPG for a particular channel. Seems to happen mostly (but not all the time) for listings which are several hours long, like "Preview" listings during the day before the channel properly starts at night.

Just looking at my program guide now, noticed that is seems to have got confused about which channel is which! Have a look at the attached screenshot - it's got the same down for BBC2 and channel 4 - they're not even on the same mux, so I guess there's something strange going on with the patched version. I'm going to go back to the old one for the time being, let me know if you want logs or anything.

Hi Sub,

I tried the patch with half a dozen German satellite channels, and still had some gaps on the first day, including a couple within the first few hours, after a three minute harvest on one of the main provider transponders, and none of the extended programme information. For comparison, I left DVBViewer on the same transponder for three minutes, and it had filled up the same channels completely for the first few days I checked, along with a lot of the long descriptions. (I hadn't opened DVBViewer for some time, so it shouldn't be previously harvested information).

This isn't an issue for me now, as I can get all my information over the internet, but I thought you might like to know.

I think I've made some significant progress on the gaps. Please try the attached update and let me know how your get on.

Its probably worth doing an 'Empty EPG' so you get a true view of how much gets pulled in.

Ideally leave the default <DvbEpgHarvestDuration>60</DvbEpgHarvestDuration> in config.xml. If you've increased it in the past, please reduce it back to 60.
