Usually to access signals from two satellites you'd end up with either multiple dishes, or a single dish with multiple LNBs, connected via a diseqc switch to your DVB-S card. This sort of thing: http://www.sat-sales.com/proddetail.php?...eqc_switch

I have a single dish with two lnb's pointing at nimiq1 (91) and nimiq2 (82). They are connected through a diseq switch.

I've been using MyTheatre for quite some time - so I have a good idea of how it works in that particular program, and how satellites work in general - I think I'm just missing something really obvious about GBPVR. Specifically, how to configure one capture source (my Twinhan 1020a) to capture more than one satellite, when you can only scan against one satellite.ini file at a time (in my case, either nimiq1 OR nimiq2. I'm really just looking for guidance on how to work the capture source configuration. Do I just change the satellite, reset the Diseq (from A to B) and scan again?

Also, what is the "power" checkbox for? Do I need to select it?

You need to create two capture sources for the same device, one with the diseqc setting set to LNB1, the other set to LNB2.

Just leave it on.

Hooked the LNB into "LNB2" on my actual Diseqc switch. Created a second capture device, set Diseqc to "B" (assuming this is what you mean - since LNB2 is pointing at the Sat I want to scan). When I go into map channels, it tells me "GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is configured properly, and not already in use". After I got that error a few times, I changed the device number from 1 to 2. Same error.

It should be device #1.

Reproduce the error, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I can't remember if I changed the device number back to #1, but I got the same error either way. All my logs are attached.

I'm also having problems with HD channels on Nimiq2 crashing the application (as you can see in my logs, it crashed as I turned to CBSHE, which is an HD channel ). Strangely, these channels do work in the preview window within the channel mapping dialogue - just not in the application itself. If you can shed any light on that.... I'm thinking AC3 may be the culprit. Do you use some special decoder combination in preview mode? Is there any siginficant difference between the preview in the channel mapping dialogue and normal viewing in GB-PVR? My machine shouldn't be choking on this, its pretty much top-end in all of the components. All of these channels play in MT.

I did patch my installation for DVB-S users in NA as per your survival guide for this release.

Can you try deleting any *.cache files from C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\BDA? I think it will help.

Its probably not related to your problem, but you have some very strange messages in your logs:

Quote:1/7/2007 11:30:21 PM.953 ERROR [1] System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly '524288 bytes loaded from GBPVRBackendCommon, Version=1.0.2547.27411, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

Do you have GBPVRBackendCommon.dll or GBPVRPublic.dll in your plugins directory? You shouldnt.

Thanks Sub, I will give that a try. Any thoughts on my second paragraph? Sorry, I was editing my post while you were responding. I'm going to be really really happy if I can use this program instead of MT. There was another thread that started to discuss HD in these forums, but it trailed off into something else and seemed to be a different problem anyways.

No, I cant think of anything of hand. For the most part they share all the code.

You want to look into whether does this when (1) you start live tv on an HD channel, (2) versus starting on an SD channel then switching to an HD channel. I'm thinking it might be something to do with your audio decoder. It seemed to have two listed in your logs. One for AC3 one for normal MPEG 1 layer 2 audio.

Starting on HD works! Switching back to SD crashes the system. I thought it might be an AC3Filter problem, but it is no longer the prefered decoder, and it still crashes. I tried the nvidia audio decoder - no sound at all and still crashes on SD channels. Hmmm. Well, thanks for your help - at least I get HD now. I'll keep playing with decoders until I get a combination that works. I'll report back when I fix the problem.

BTW, not sure if it is helpful, but it is a "runtime error 217" that I am getting.

I don't know a PID from a SID, but is it possible that the MDAPI wrapper, or GBPVR is not grabbing the correct audio stream when it switches? I know in MT, you can select either AC3 or standard audio on HD channels and a handful of SD channels (depending what is broadcast on the SD channels) but that most SD channels don't offer AC3. Maybe it is expecting AC3, not finding it and crashing. If there is a good audio decoder that will solve the problem, I'm happy to acquire it, but the 4 I have tried have all had the exact same problem.
