Hi,

I am having problems with the TV-out on the PVR-350 as discussed in other posts, and hope to solve it by getting a new graphics card with TV-out. Anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced card that will go with my somewhat old PC? Ideally with passive cooling. It will only be used for TV-out, so no need to support demanding games.

Thanks!

I've been recommended the Matrox G400 Dualhead in another thread when asking much the same question. No hardware decoding support though so you'll need a PC with enough power to software decode. I don't know how it's cooled. Matrox.com should answer that for you if you do a search for it.

Also, if you do find the card on ebay or whatever, make sure it comes with the tv-out cable. There are no "normal" composite or svideo outputs.

Edit: According to the product specs on matrox.com, it claims to offer "full resolution DVD playback at low CPU utilization". That seems to contradict the one that told me it has no hardware decoding.

the matrox is passive cooled. it has some hardware-based acceleration, but only in "dvdmax" - mode. videos are displayed in fullscreen on the tv-screen, no osd, no other menus. like the pvr350.
