murf64 Wrote:Zehd, You lost me here. Everything has been transcoding fine with ffmpeg and mencoder on the pc, even through GBPVR (on the pc) or via a batch file (on the pc). The only time I have any trouble is through the MVP. There's some disconnect between zprocess and mvp. Look at gbpvr.exe-1.log at 1/22/2007 10:17:32 AM.348, I tried to use the "transcode" feature on the MVP, and it sent it into some loop.

Murf, the reason I've been on about wanting more tests, is I'm still not seeing, Start ZProcess, Start Transcode, Transcode ends, Close ZProcess. I can't tell what you are doing for sure, becuase it looks like you're transcoding several files in a row, in one session, which is not how I want to test.

BUT! It turns out I have discovered your problem. I have it myself, except it only affects MEncoder.

Anyway, hang in there... It might be untill the weekend, but I'll get this taken care of...

Zehd, Here you go. One file transcoded first with ffmpeg and then with mencoder, it has all the marks you asked for.

Thanks... It looks like you're transcoding a small file. Only about 20 secs to transcode. But it finishes nicely, so it all looks great.

Well, I've bought another MVP, and I'm starting to find and fix the big issue I've uncovered... Hang tight.

Murf, I'm sorry that I had you chase your tail there for a bit. I kinda got confused during the troubleshooting, as I'm also helping a few others too. Not to mention the new job and long hours...

Anyway, I read through our discussions, and it came to me that I would also like a copy of your config.xml along with the GB-PVR logs and the ZProcess logs. Getting the config.xml will only confirm the settings.

Having you transcode over and over was certainly silly, I'm sorry. It really appears that ZProcess isn't receiving the call from GB-PVR.

I'm thinking of adding a couple of buttons. 'Remove all settings' and 'one click setup'.

I wiped out my registry entries and then imported your settings....

Were you just testing with a left pad of 42? Is that because the answer to the universe is 42?

Anyway, I had another thought. Have your played with the 4x3, 16x9 ON THE MVP settings when you use Hauppauge media software.

I've been playing with it, and found that 4x3 really means blow everything up, so there are no borders, and 16x9 means I'll display anything that you through at me... (Like ZProcess processed files)

On both of my MVPs, using 4x3 TVs, I have the MVPs set to 16:9 in the Hauppauge Media software... What do you think?

Just an observation: I agree, this mvp 4x3/16x9 thing is very confusing.
I have a 16x9 tv and I have the mvp set to 4x3. I did this because it interfered with the automatic screen-sizing of the tv(WAF relatedSmile ). Took me some time to'" admit" that I didn't completely understand what was happening but that in my case I was better of with setting the mvp to 4x3.
So I guess everybody has to find out for themselves what setting suits their needs best.

Let me guess, Good WAF equals no Letterbox or pillarbox...

Let's call it HtV's 2nd law.Big Grin
Before you ask: HtV's 1st law: The greater the WAF the greater the risks.Wink

Zehd, No problem, it's a great piece of software. I'm curious though, do you have the transcode feature up and running on your MVP?

Yes, and yes.

Do you mean change this setting: <MVP16x9Mode>false</MVP16x9Mode> in the config file to set the MVP to 16x9 mode, I can't anything in the Hauppauge software.

I've attached my config file.

First of all, Yes, it works, for a lot of people... both ffmpeg and mencoder. But with all the trouble you've been having, I'm not surprised you think it's a myth...

MVP16x9Mode: No, that setting is currently dormant as sub is currently not attempting to control that aspect of aspect ratio. Currently he's leaving it to the Hauppauge software...

In you config, it seems like you've edited the custom transcode for XVID. Did you know that by having ZProcess as ffmpeg.exe, then any setting in the custom transcode is ignored in favour of the profile settings in ZProcess..

Anyway, I had to see for myself that there isn't anything strange... I'm going to try you config.xml with my system. Maybe we can find a difference that way.... Later
