Thanks again for your help.

I have unzipped version 58 to overwrite the older version. I have restarted the service, and added filters. The error message has changed now however: I now get Live Bookmark loading... then nothing happens. Should I be encouraged? Smile

Good question! That's what happens in Thunderbird too. I get the loading message and it never finishes. From the feed validator it seems like the feed is ok. The missing element error is probably wrong. RSS2.0 doesn't require any link there. At least that's what the spec seems to say.

Has anyone else using Firefox got RSS feeds to work?

What happens when you just type in the address in the address bar of FireFox.....

I get a screen full of XML - as you'd expect I guess. If I use an unfiltered feed URL, I get seven RSS logos on the left of the screen plus the headings:
In-Progress recordings feed.
Completed recordings feed.
Pending recordings feed.
Conflict recordings feed.
Failed recordings feed.
Season recordings feed.
Deleted recordings feed.

So one conclusion you might draw is that there's a problem with the Live Bookmark process - yet every other RSS feed that I've set up (and there are dozens) works fine using exactly the same method as I used for EWA RSS.

Ok...found a bug that should be fixed in the attached.....

Stop your recording service....replace the dll.....restart your recording service and give the live bookmark a try.....

Let me know how you make out.

Have done as requested: replaced rss.dll & rss.pdb, restarted recording service - but no change, I'm afraid. I was initially encouraged by a 'Live Bookmark feed loading...' message but that was just the once and I can't reproduce it.

No change to Thunderbird's performance either. Still sits at verifying feed forever.

Attached is another tweak.....

I have to ask....did you stop your recording service first before replacing the DLL? Not stopping the recording service first can cause problems....even if you do a restart after replacing it.....

With this version Feedvalidator as well as the w3c validator are clean with the results.......

Haven't tried the new version yet on Tbird, since something is recording right now. I did notice that if I filter completed, the feed verifies fine. If I filter pending, it hangs. Maybe it doesn't like the future dates.
Anyway will post results after kid's stuff is done.

Yea.....you may be correct on the future dates.....the validators only report it as a warning so it still passes.

I am guessing FireFox must just have too tight of restrictions on what will work and what will not.....I prefer a focused reader such as FeedReader.....all the feeds work in that.
