I know you have said it many times. I guess I'm just trying to say there are those of us that are still hoping it makes the cut someday.
I have to admit though, it seems like for the source to get captions working for recorded media playback is to get files from one of us that has a hauppauge card with ccindvd enabled. The hard part to me is supporting the different decoders, not obtaining files that have caption info in them. Course that's easy for me to say, I'm not doing the work. That said, if there is anything that I can do to help out, I'm always game.

Sub, CC has been one of the only things I really miss when watching recorded shows. And since the 150 now records the info (I don't know how long now it has)

The best part is using the method mentioned to me earlier in this thread, it does work! How ever it is being overlayed onto the video on the MVP does work, but it does seem to have a hard time keeping up with rapidly changing text from the srt files.

I also noticed that the text is out of sync. It seemed to be running ahead of the video by a couple seconds. You can see the text being drawn at times, and it is not perfect, but it is VERY usable (If it was in sync).

So if you want a CC tester in the US, I will try anything out. I can send you video recordings if you like also.

Can we copy this thread to a new one possibly "Closed Captions on PVR150 via MVP"?

There is a config setting to change the delay on the closed captions for the MVP and for the main output. You should try to adjust that.

This is most likely always going to be a problem on the MVP. While its playing video, screen updates are very slow, and GB-PVR never knows exactly where the playback is up to. It guesses, but this is only accurate to about +/-2 seconds.

There is a setting you can tweak in config.xml (<SubtitleDelayMVP>), but this will probably only help if your files are all a fairly uniform bitrate, otherwise you'll find you need a slightly different delay for each file.

So how do you send subtitiles to the MVP? I take it that the MVP doesn't do the CC decode, and the SRT viewer is somehow involved?

I found that, thanks! I changed it from 1500 to 3000 and will try that out. I'm going to run mpg2srt on some normal shows now, not just Viva Pinata and try it out.

GB-PVR reads the SRT file and displays a bitmap with the appropriate subtitles when it thinks its about the right time.

In one of the many repetitive posts on this subject, I did offer to try and do this in mvpmc but I had no takers. I wouldn't run into the rfb protocol slow downs but they have to be turned off during GBPVR's OSD updates for pause, mini-guides, program info etc because of a conflict for the bottom of the screen.

Yeah, this would probably be the best way to go. I'm surprised there were no takers given the whole CC subject pops up often. Maybe this time you'll get some more traction...

No changes from GB-PVR would be required for you to implement this.
