I'm using the Purevideo decoder with a 7600GS and the only way to stop the sheering when panning is to use PVRX2 in Full screen exclusive mode

From the command line type

PVRX2 -fse

I then get a perfect picture. Smile

I saw full screen exclusive mode the other day for the first time but I didn't know in what situation that would be useful.

WinDVD8 & using whatever is default for PVRX2 on those PC's that won't work with nvidia.

I am running 99.12 in FSE mode with the machine in my sig, and it has been smooth as silk. FSE is the only mode that worked for me, VMR9 and VMR9 Custom would give me significant stuttering when panning even though it is a relatively beefy vid card.

The -FSE switch is the only thing I can use to get PVRX2 running smooth. The regular VMR Custom mode is jerky and stutters no matter what system I have tried it on. -FSE is the way to go for smooth playback on most systems, even low powered such as my own.

strange that, fse has always made no difference infact sometimes it made things worse
just goes to show there is no right or wrong combination its just what works with the system you have

dvasco Wrote:I didn't know that about PVRX2 and vmr custom. Is that so even if Nvidia codec or Intervideo codec is used? Yes, a 6600 is supposed to be better than a 6299. I think the 6600 came out after the 6800 too. I used to have a 6600 for gaming but the loudness of the fan got on my nerves so I got rid of it.

my 6600 is fanless thats why i got it in the first place it was the only half decent card in the shop with no fan

yes direct3d=vmrcustom
doesnt matter what codec you use it still ends up drawing to the display using direct3d which is what vmr custom usesRolleyes

My findings so far, as far as the Purevideo codec is concerned anyway, is it likes OLD hardware better. I run it on one system, with a Geforce MX 440, and it's smooth, on my other system with a Radeon 9200se, runs smooth, on my Radeon 9500, stutters and jitters. Now of all these cards, the 9500 is the one with the most horse power, but the worst results. On the 9500 I found that the Cyberlink decoder that comes with PowerDVD 6.5 worked best on that card. I guess if my 9500 started to show problems with the PV codec, I guess you people with the latest nVidia 6XXX and up series cards have no hope. Wink
