There is not alot of details available, but you'd effectively need to create a .DLL, that contains a class that implements a specific interface. Please read http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=4;t=55 for the available details.

If you do decide to do this, keep me up to date with progress and let me know if you have questions.

And also, is there a good resource for background information on the technical aspects of coding for GB-PVR and associated things?

Have started the research for this.
Acquired and installed DirectX SDK.
Purchased a Nova-T USB card and installed the Hauppage software - gives an excellent picture; all the Freeview channels.
Currently waiting for a response to a request for the Nova-T SDK. Once I have that, if you could purchase a Nova-T PCI, mafro, we could cover both.

Ill have a look around for a Nova-T PCI card now. Let me know when you get a copy of the Nova SDK so I can get a copy from you.

I will be curious to see what you guys come up with.  I would like to implement a similar thing for the Hauppauge Nexus-S if all goes well.

Sub, do you have interface file(s) (C++ I suppose) we could download that would match what you expect?

I did a quick check and didn't see any references to a SDK from Hauppauge for their DVB cards. Do you guys have a link you can share that references one?

Can't tell you how relieved I am to be reading this, I've been using a Nova T USB on my HTPC for some time and it works great, the only trouble is that i'm tied to using Showshifter as this is the only real candidate for DVB at the moment and while it works OK (most of the time) it's far from perfect and i'll be swapping to GBPVR as soon as you guys have anything useable.

Keep up the important work - DVB is definately the way forward, I just can't believe it's taking so long for people to incorparate support in their software.  Well done for taking the initiative guys!!  Can't wait to see some results.  If you need any help with testing then i'll be more than happy to help.

Since this is a free software then we could use DVBCore as base, the SDK for this is found at http://www.dvbcore.com this SDK is generall for MANY! DVB cards and is easy to work with... And if the software is freeware it can be used for free...

Please take a look at that SDK and see if there is any chance for DVB.

Best regards!

This came from the DVBCore author on the DVBCore forum:

i suggest get SDK for Nexus/SS1 and write app based on this.
I'm no longer support 3rd party applications based on DVBCore.

only plugins.

I was searching for documentation for DVBCore (which apparently no longer exists) when I found the post above.  Looks like we are better off with the Hauppauge SDK route (assuming Hauppauge has a SDK, which I haven't seen evidence of yet).

Apparently http://www.technotrend.de (the manufacturers of Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T) will send you the SDK for free if you email them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'm sure the Nova-T guys will like that.

I have a email into Hauppauge about a SDK for the Nexus-S, but I haven't heard anything back yet.
