Now that sounds really useful if implemented properly Smile That would be a really nice addition to GBPVR - now where is that wishlist forum...Wink

Hmmm - well you can do this on the TV guide - so it must be a minor task to get it to the recording list

MythTV has the ability to get you all excited about a system...buy $3000 worth of equipment to build system and remote frontends for the system, do all the research for the system, build two complete boxes for the system, get you to load the "SUPER MEGA EASY setup program for the systems (Knoppmyth)", see that your remotes do not work, change 1 "/" somewhere hidden in a file that is next to impossible to find until you learn linux programs like nano, get all excited that your remote works, hook up your 4 tuners and none of them work correctly, visit the support forums, deal with people who speak might as well be chinese even when you request specifically "dumb it down for me to steps involving type this then type that", play and fight with the thing for 2 months, have your friend visit and play with it for a weekend, reload windows and try out nero home, find that it is a garbage resource hogging pile of doo doo, search manically with panic in your heart that your system will never work, find an article on wikipedia about gb-pvr, load the program with no hope left in your heart because nothing ever works right and BOOM, all four tuners work, your remotes work with absolutely no configuration required, there is network support, there are amazing people who actually help you on the forum support, and the system is just that damn good that your wife who is computer illiterate can use it as the main entertainment center forever and ever...and then you come one day to find that although mythtv started your journey...you have arrived at the promised land which is gbpvr that has made your pain, your keyboard sore fingers and wrists, your $3000 all worth it because there is light at the end of the tunnel, there is a genius (SUB) behind a program that even a simpleton (ME) can hook up and use to enjoy his music, his tv, and his pictures in a media based orgasm of gloryment (my invented word). Um...what was the topic here again....sorry about the rant but i am on my lunch break LOL.

CDK Scheduler does this. It's distributed with XRecord.

you mean context menus? (dependent on pointer location) for left and right click would be great ... could be definable in xml... or maybe even gestures later..

LOL - I felt exactly the same way when I first installed GBPVR, especially since my first HTPC machine was way below Sub's reccomended specs. I installed it just hoping I could have a look at the menus and see if it would find my card. I was recording my first show 30 minutes after installation and I used that old PIII 600 for a year and half with no problems.

I could have swore I saw this when I was using overlay mode while testing with 99.12 and wondered why I never saw this message again. I remember thinking why doesn't it show up using VMR9? I could be imagining things though.

Sadly it's not as easy as this nowdays what with prerequisites of .NET, runtimes, mux all waiting to trip up the new user. (and the reinstalling oldie)

A - Punctuation would help the reading process.

B - Pretty much most of this is rubbish. Mythtv nowadays is a very robust Client/Server package that once set up very rarely fails. Having played with both - install times are fairly similar. Hardware compatibility nowadays is really the only issue (and I guarentee you - Mythtv supports a hell of a lot more hardware than GBPVR). Modern day Distro`s (such as Ubuntu) are a breeze to install and a few simple commands will install everything you need to get a Mythtv system up and running - codecs, software, the lot. Nothing at all needs to be chased down - it`s all in the repositories.

Granted - it`s still an adventure to install - But nothing like you describe.

That is the crux of the matter. Most people here have come via the "trying to get Myth working" route (well I did). I'd been running linux for years and was admining servers at college but I had to give up with myth.

Half an hour after finding gbpvr, I had it up and running - say no more. I've been running it since 2005 and could count the lost recordings on one hand.
