Hey mvpaaagh,
the method I suggested does not alter the video quality, as I am transcoding at 100%. In other words, it leaves the video untouched and basically demuxes it. This took about 10 t0 15 minutes for Empire Strikes Back (2hr film), followed by about 8 minutes to convert the audio from ac3 to mp3, then about 5 to 10 minutes to run through mplex to create a playable mpg on the MVP.
To me for those wanting to watch a DVD over MVP this is about the fastest (free) way of doing it. Of course i need to check if you need to use DVDDecypter before using rejig. If you want to reduce your video in size, then you can do this but remember, this is transcoding.
Now, if you where to recode this, say using CCE, then you are talking 2 to 3 hrs, plus audio converting, and plexing on top of that.
This is a whole different field of information and to learn more about this i can suggest several good sites.
I suggest trying your 6 minute vob this way and see what the quality is like in comparison to your method,
cheers,
Colin.
