[b Wrote:Quote[/b] (Jeff @ Feb. 05 2005,16:43)]I just found a small bug, so I have posted a new update. Only 1 line of code changed, but oh well.

Also, I just ocnverted a DVD. The time spent in the besweet and mpeg tasks was 20 minutes. Add to this the DVDDecrypt time.

Jeff
I'm glad you 'fix' something. I need to fetch the new plugin. Early this morning I put in the VA plugin and my machine became unusable, memory usage ramped up quickly, past physical and was swapping like mad.

Now I'm not saying it was the VA plugin per say, it could have been any number of things (yes I'm on .90) as I've pretty much experimented with 60% of the plugins... Did a clean install and decided to search the forums, looks like I should put VA back in.. BTW, DVD2MPEG is nice, I like having the ability to let the MVP do the work of decrypting, keeps my system load down and network usage is low.

I posted elsewhere, and will search again to see if anyone answered.. but are you able to view ISO mounted DVDs to the MVP? I have not been able to do it but then I'm been experimenting with everything.. time to try now that I have a clean install I guess.

Edit: well I don't know what caused my problem this morning, however after the fresh install the machine and the GBPVR comes up a LOT quicker.. That's what I get for tinkering and playing, but then how else can one learn how things work.

Jeff! VA is awesome, love that plugin it's everything I wanted after playing with the other video plugins.. Still use Xrecord too, unless I can figure out a reason to not.

Jeff,

1 - Does the DVD Get Info grab irregardless of the filetype, i.e. if an .ISO is the file will it grab now and add for that file type.

2 - If the find fails - can this manuall all be done - I need to check the Info Editor

3 - I just ran DVD Get Info on a large list - it seemed like it was working hard but the content was not displayed.

4 - I assume the .ISO's now mount/play?

Just checking in advance - and need to do some more testing.

Can you look at the archiveupdate.log file. It should tell you what it was doing. It also might be working. Copying such large files takes a long time and it does seem like the nachine is hung. That's one benefit to running the utility from the PostUpdateEPG.bat file.

1. The new GetDVDInfo utility looks for both .iso and .mpg files.

2. What I do when a find fails is is simply rename the mpg or iso file to match the real movie name. Sometimes the name from the disk are too abreviated for the find to work. The plug-in montitors all specified DVDs & will notice the rename and try to fetch information for the new name. This assoumes that GBPVR is running while you do the rename. If not, you can run getdvdinfo after renaming.

What kind of problems are you having with the DVD Info Editor? You can also in the genre edit.log file and see what the editor was doing.

3. You can look at the dvdupdate.log file to see what it was doing. Note that it only scan directories specified in the config app as dvd directories. The getdvdinfo utility does not look at video directories, the archive directory, or the main recording directory. The gettvinfo utilty will look at these.

4. You should see iso files show up in the file list just like any ither DVD and you should be able to select play to play them.

If archive days is 0, the default, then no archiving is done. Go into the config utilty and set it to some non zero number and all shows older than that number of days will be moved. Note that the first time you will probably have lots of recordings to archive and it will take a long time. Thereafter it will only be shows that age one more day and cross the threshold that are moved.

I don't want it to auto-archive. I've always used the to plugin to manually archive shows after I've viewed them. It has worked excellently for that, thanks for your hard work. Have you actually changed the program so that this can't be done until the number of days is up?

I did make a change a while ago to disable the plug-in itself doing the archive; I found this annoying since it made things slow while I was watching TV. So, the plug-in no longer autoarhives. You can either manualy archive things by selecting them and clicking on the archive button or you can run the ArchiverUtility to archive all files older than the number of days you have configured. I run this each night in the PostUpdateEPG.bat file, but you could also run it manually whenever you'd like. By running it at night all the disk-intensive copying is done at a time when GBPVR is not being used to watch TV.

Oops, I didn't do a good job of explaining myself. I want to do just as you described in "selecting them and clicking on the archive button." Nothing happens when I do this. The only thing I notice in the logs when I do this is that it tells the skin to display the "archiving such and such" message.
