Ok, here are the logs of me tuning to a problematic channel (3) exiting back to the guide, tuning to a viewable channel (5) then back to the guide and tuning back to 3. The screencap is what it looked like (black). The sound was playing. Sometimes instead of blackness it will show a distorted broken still of the last frame that was seen from the last good channel. This particular sequence was using the arcsoft decoder.
thanks
incidentally, the screen grabs from the 720p streams are 1280x720 (as the program sets the canvas up to be), but the 1080i streams are 1920x1088. The log shows the program is setting up a 1920x1080 canvas instead, 8 pixels short. Could this cause it?

No. that wouldn't cause it. Does it work if you enable "Live Preview mode"? Config -> "Misc" tab -> "Use Live Preview mode if possible". If live preview works, try changing <BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording> to "1" in config.xml
drlava Wrote:With use live preview mode set, channel changing now works and is fast between 720p stations, great! But the 1080 stations are still black with sound.
If you start a 1080 channel from the guide, does it show video? If not, I suspect you have the wrong video pid in your tuning string.
You should also make sure that you have <BDASubmitTuningTwiceOnRecord> and <BDASubmitTuningTwiceOnLivePreview> set to "true" in config.xml

no it won't show video, but I can pause the channel and open the pausing stream file with VLC and video is shown fine, so I don't think it's a tuning issue. The PIDs match what the silicondust site says, also.

the first one was true, and setting the second to true didn't fix it.
Another strange thing: when I go into settings from PVRX2, it flashes the settings screen and goes back to the main menu by itself.
Maybe I should re-install GBPVR and the HDHR software? which should be installed first?
thanks for your help..
If the stream itself is fine (seen in VLC) and 720p channels are fine, then it sounds like its something to do with the video decoder you're using not liking 1080i.
I would think so too, but all 4 decoders do the same thing.
Also, powerdvd8 is able to open the paused 1080i stream file and play it fine, but using the powerdvd8 decoder in GBPVR (with the 1080i channels) gives a blank screen. So it doesn't seem to be a fault of the decoder either.
Try playing a 1080i recording in GB-PVR with the Cyberlink decoder selected, then post the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.
