I think I've broken the back of what I was hoping to get done. Graphically I think we have the look, I think I've finish most of the formatting changes (see latest post in xml suggestion thread). Everything I've done is a little raw and I'll need some time to finalize and double check everything, but I see the light Big Grin

Great. I reckon we could get a preview build together in the new year. I'm sure we could find some early adopters to give some feedback and try things like OSD and plugins etc.

Have you/fatmando made all the alternative main menu and library layouts or has that been canned?

Going to need a list of things that should be made editable by the SkinPlugin soon (within a month). Graphics, Layout and Text are the current categories. Been looking through some old posts but finding it hard to keep track of things. Perhaps a wiki page of "Editable Skin items" would be a good idea...

I've got a copy of everything I posted in the xml suggestions thread, they're basically done and I think are a good starting point.

It's tricky, you don't really get any feedback on this stuff until it's released some way or the other. So my plan is to format it the best I can and then tweak if needed as community feedback comes in.

I am still plucking away. Mostly dealing with legacy plugin issues. I want to completely remove the need for the skinplugin to copy images to the skin\ folder. Dropping unsupported plugins really helped reduce the number to test. Hairy, do you want to try to submit all your xml tweaks to the svn? You can place all your variant video library xml's in the same folder for now labeled skin1.xml, skin2.xml or something like that.

Actually I'd rather them just be emailed rather then clutter up the SVN. In the end they'll be part of the SkinPlugin's resources folder.

And it'll give me some real options for the Layout category :p

I was kind of holding out until the plugin was further along and then put them in the resource folder. It gives me more time to tinker with them and they're just xml's until McBainUK does his magic and they become selectable and loadable.

I've been posting them here to keep you guys up to date (and make sure we don't overlap) and I was hoping to maybe get a little feed back from the community (whether they're close to the mark or not) but maybe that'll come more when we have a package to test.

edit: Ha great minds!

That can work as well.

I just think I am missing some things. Hairy, you can email me the entire slug of xml's and I'll go through and see what I am missing.

How are you guys getting on? Can you even fit in front of the keyboard after the Christmas excess? Big Grin

I've got to the stage where I need some real images/xmls in the resources folder to tie down the edit and browse skin items UI. A bit like what needed to do for the old SkinPlugin - fill the resources folder and update the SkinPluginConfig.xml file to match. Any help and/or suggestions welcome.

I am going ok, could have done more, but holidays you know.

I have tweaked Hairy's baseskin.xml file and it should be in the SVN. I also have commited the defaults of Hairy's xml's in the SVN (did not do all the alternate library files for now, those are probably "Resource" items).

I have a few more PVRX2 plugins to run through before I get to GBPVR UI plugins.

With the old UI I have broken all but MusicLibrary2 by removing the _CoreImages folder from the \Skin\Community-SD\ directory. I need to go through those now and convert the image paths over and make sure the legacy baseskin.xml is up to snuff. I won't let the legacy stuff hold us back. ML2 works and that is probably the most important. I think users are reporting Video Archive is not working so ???
