Another point - they both appear to work in LiveTV mode (without the blue button) as long as I wait about 1 minute between pauses. Once the display does not work, however, it is hard to get it to work again without restarting LiveTV.

Yes, I have figured this is normal GB-PVR behaviour since the MVP, but Jaggy might be right that it was better in GBPVR.exe days.

Martin,

My PCH is on a secondary TV right now for testing, but from what I have seen so far, I am anxious to be able to replace my HTPC on the main TV with the PCH. Unbelievable little device. I checked the power requirements and it seems to use only 9 - 10 watts, and that's during playback! And I also can't say enough about the work that you and Sub have done in supporting this device with GbPvr. Can't wait to see what's in store for the next version!

I still have just a few questions still regarding the OSD. Can you tell me if the OSD on the PCH supports the following:

1) Displaying numeric input when changing channels directly

2) Timeline display when skipping forward and reverse

3) Timeline display when pressing play during playback (for comskip)

Also, I am having difficulty skipping during LiveTV. Any skip (forward or reverse) restarts LiveTV to the beginning of the buffer. I will duplicate and upload logs later (if this is OK and you have a minute to look at them) but I was curious if others are seeing this problem.

First you should untick the option to have a minimal OSD for the MVP on the MVP tab in config. You will get much more information.

If you can't skip in LiveTV my bet is you didn't apply the record service patch. Did you use NMTInstall to apply the patches?

I double checked and I do not have Minimal OSD selected in config. And as far as I know, I have the latest GBPVRRecordingService.exe dated 4/10/2009. Skipping works on completed recordings, but not on LiveTV recordings

:o My bad. With regard to the minimal OSD display, I was looking at the option on the Misc tab, not the MVP. I will try again tonight, maybe this will resolve a lot of my OSD problems. Should "Use incremental screen updates" be checked?

Skipping in live tv and recordings work differently. When in doubt upload logs. You also didn't answer my question if you used NMTInstall.

Yes keep incremental updates ticked.

Sorry bout that - yes, I did use NMTInstall to install the GbPvr updates. I feel pretty stupid about the OSD problems, and sorry to waste so much of your time on that. After deselecting "Force minimal OSD for MVP", my OSD problems have disappeared.

Attached are logs from a short LiveTV session in which I tried to skip forward and reverse. As I mentioned before, all skips (whether forward or back) restarted the LiveTV recording at the beginning.

No. I was just having trouble figuring out what is happening. I see you have Skip instead of FF enabled, and it look a while, and I think I see you using FF and RW for skipping instead of Prev and Next.

Also you should disable skip instead of FF and you will get FF/RW working. It is good with SD but so-so with HD.

That is my normal setup for GbPvr, and how I have it setup on my HTPC. I have FF/REW and Previous/Next set up to skip 10 seconds and 1 minute respectively. This is because I never had much luck with the real fast forward and rewind. That is why you saw both in the logs. I attempted to skip both 10 seconds and 1 minute.

Since then I have noticed something else that may be a clue. I started LiveTV, paused it, then came back abount 10-15 minutes later. When I tried skipping, I then had some success. So maybe it has something to do with how much is in the buffer. I will do some more testing to see what else I can find.
