Freezing on certain clear qam channels

I have only anecdotal evidence from my setup, but I had some sort of ground loop interference after I added an amp to my sytem which was causing some problems on certain QAM channels. I helped fix it by hooking up the grounding screw on my amp and my splitter (about 30 feet apart) to the same ground.
just a thought...

I tried out an ATI 650 HD usb unit, and problem solved! Something to do with the Hauppauge card, I imagine.
