I figured, since the file skips fine on my PC, it should also be able to do this on my PCH. The problem at the start of this thread was solved with sub implementing the same logic for the MVP server as for the gbpvr gui, so I assumed this would also be possible for this problem, since they appear to be related.
Post processing each DVB-C recording is not something I'd like to do and I believe it is not necesarry, since I never encountered these problems with my Mediaportal DVB-C recordings (sorry, I had to mention this Smile).

It might be a different problem. If you have time, try TsMuxeR on it and if it still fails we can look at different things.

Yep, TsMuxeR fixed it. Nice program, BTW. But what about the fact that the original file plays fine on the PC client?

Thanks for checking Chris. TSMuxer is good for fixing PTS issues which I believe is the biggest problem for mvpmcx2, but it doesn't fix as many stream problems as TSDoctor or TS4NP do for general TS playback.

Part of the problem now is mvpmcx2 reports back the PTS and leaves it to GBPVR to calculate the position based on PTS. Since sub and I came up with this approach I have figured out to send the file offset which might be more consistent, but the offset on VBR files can be fairly rough approximations too, and on short jumps you could end up going the wrong direction.

Thanks for the info Martin. I have been playing DVB-C recordings from MP for some time on mvpmcx2, and they never gave me these kind of problems. So I believe the tswriter of MP does some tricks to get it right, or am I talking nonsense?

Chris, it's certain possible. A quick look into their TSWriter code http://mediaportal.svn.sourceforge.net/v...er/source/ finds this comment

Code:
__int64         m_PcrCompensation ;             // Compensation from PCR/PTS/DTS to fake PCR/PTS/DTS ( 33 bits offset with PCR resoluion )

Sheik Yerbouti Wrote:Hmmm, I found out that some files still give problems. This time the end time is right, but when I skip gbpvr goes to the right place but the timeline suggests it's at the end of the file. When I do the same skipping with gbpvr on my PC it works fine. The logs show the start of a file, skipping 18 minutes (which currupts the time line, but goes to the right spot) and skipping 1 minute (which ends the playback).

Chris

For the last couple of weeks, I've been seeing basically the same thing with several of my recordings. They appear to start out OK, but then part way into the file, the blue button displays a timeline with the current position all the way at the end of the file. And after that happens, commercial skipping no longer works, and after (maybe) 1-2 manual skips, the playback will just end.

I'm attaching a log file from one occurrance. It does show some wild jumps in the PTS values. I also ran this file through TsMuxeR, and it seemed to "fix" the problem.

Also, I am occassionally still getting files with the negative start and end times even with the patch installed. CHRIS: do you ever still get any of those?

OK, ignore this part. After I posted, I went to verify that I had installed the patched version of PVRX2.EXE from sub. Turns out that I had downloaded it, but it didn't get installed. I've put it in now. Still have the problem with the current time pointer jumping to the end too soon, though!

Yeah, it's the only thing keeping me from making the full switch to digital, because it's bad for the WAF Big Grin. I hope sub can look into it some more (hint).

Just to confirm that it isn't mvpmcx2 could each of you let one of these files play thorough without skipping or resuming and upload your logs.

Be careful that you apply the right patches though and use NMTInstall if you are on 1.4.7.
