You are correct, Martin. Comskip is working quite well with NPVR and the timing.info!

Tried it, still crashes, quicker I think, within about 3 seconds of restarting the file, where before it took about 10 seconds.

Now I'm playing around again, and I think the comskip files may be the root of the problem.

All the recordings that I can reproduce the crash as I have described have comskip.txt file like this:
Code:
FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE 111570 FRAMES AT 2997
-------------------
60    1973
20585    25010
36740    43433
57181    63445
74346    81986
91462    100236
110870    111571
Note the last frame number is 1 larger than the number of frames processed. I think nPVR actually uses the comskip.edl file, but I don't know how the numbers in that file relate:
Code:
2.00    65.83    0
686.85    834.50    0
1225.89    1449.21    0
1907.94    2116.95    0
2480.68    2735.60    0
3051.78    3344.54    0
3699.36    3722.75    0

I played a recording with a comskip.txt file that had the same final number as frames, and it ended with the black screen as you described, for a few seconds, then dropped back to menu. Replayed that file, no crash, played it to the end, black screen, menu, all good. Then played a different recording, and it crashed!

This is very strange. Again if I play a recording with comskip.txt as above to the end, it goes right back to menu (no black screen), then play a different recording, it plays, then play the first again, and it plays. But if I replay directly it crashes.

Yes, I am very happy with nPVR and comskip. Where is timing.info? Is it a separate file or just part of the .ts?
What, me worry?

It is odd for sure, this might even be a server side issue Timing.Info is metadata, one way to get it is

more < "filename.ts:Timing.Info" > Timing.Info

Could you zip the logs of a crash and the Timing.Info for that file above and I will see if there is anything of note.

Attached. It crashed when starting that file after playing some others, at the end of MVP.log.1.

Thanks Martin

Another thing I have noticed, is that when I start that recording, for example, it has 'resume' available, play it to the end with the pch, 'resume' is still available. When I play it to the end on the PC, resume is no longer available. These problem files may not reset the playback position properly when they end?
What, me worry?

Yes, I cleaned up the thread to make it less confusing, since I didn't know you tested two Desperate Housewive episodes. I am lost for ideas at the moment.,

From Sage forum

always_keep_first_seconds=180
always_keep_last_seconds=180

Or whatever numbers you want to use. This is in the comskip.ini file. You probably won't find it in there-just put it in there yourself.

also see this for those short segment endings...

Roy, I haven't forgotten this thread, so please post the logs, comskip and Timing.Info files for recordings made with NPVR 2.0. Unfortunately we can't the old files since it is possible that there were some problems in files created pre v2.0 that could have caused some of these problems.
