Yeah, that is particularly odd. For whatever reason, your broadcast stream stops having PMTs part way through. You wont be able to skip past that point in GBPVR either.

If you used DVR-MS or an mpeg mux this problem might have been masked.

Guess I'm just "Lucky". Thanks for all the help. Any chance this has anything to do with the problem of creating small unplayable files on the back to back recordings?

Happened again tonight. All recordings were on same channel, Fox.

8-8:30 The Simpsons, recording fine
8:30-9 Allen Gregory, recording playable but it only recorded last 3 minutes of show
9-9:30 Family Guy, recording playable but it only recorded last 3 minutes of show
9:30-10 American Dad, recording unplayable, only 3.91Mb

Sub, you mentioned earlier about setting up some extra logging on a DirectShow Filter. How should I go about setting that up? Attached logs but they look like everything recorded fine.

I have tried over the last week to get this to happen in different scenarios. It only seems to happen with Fox HD half hour shows when there is more than 1 back to back. SD Fox shows recorded fine back to back.

Recordings also need a pmt, so if you're not getting pmt's, or very infrequently, then you could get entirely empty recordings, or partial recordings. The file will only start growing once it has a pmt. These normally happen every 400ms or so.

Yours is the only occurance I've seen of these PMTs not being present though, so I'm not really sure what to suggest. I think it's even illegal according to the MPEG specification.

Thanks for the help. I find it a little odd that this started happening right when I switched to NPVR. I am gonna go back to GBPVR and attempt to duplicate the problems. Will let you know what happens.

You might be able to confirm the PMT problem be seeking to the last 3 minutes of The Simpsons, which would be the same as the first 3 minutes of Allen Gregory, and see if you can seek in that region.

I think it probably is the PMT problem. It is the same as last weeks recording. The first minute is seekable and then after that seeking freezes the recording.
