If you still have no luck, perhaps zip up your entire User\Public\NPVR directory and megaupload it somewhere so I can try and duplicate it. It shouldn't be too big if you delete the thumbs cache I think.

Will do. Thanks loads for your time/effort in looking at this Smile I'll try a clean install later and see how that goes. The fact I'm using win7 x64 I assume has nothing to do with it?

No problem. I know it's a bit clunky to get it running but I'd still like to know it *does* actually run Smile
Win 7 x64 shouldn't be a problem as that's what it was written on!

Quote:And Greg, I know you don't want to have to edit the config file, but I can't help that for now. Man up, don't be scared of it and make a backup first if you're worried

Back up a bit, ok? I know I have enough knowledge now that I can easily edit the config.xml file. I had to do it before with prior installation of Submenu! It takes time, and more digging/understanding from new users which should not be necessary!. You say that you don't have the knowledge/time to allow submenu to invoke new plugins installed. I can think of of a few simple sub-routines that may work, but I have been out of programming for years. The "man up comment"? BE NICE!!

I thought I was being nice (hence the smiley face next to the comment)? Please remember I do this for free in what little spare time I have - much as I'd love it to do everything for you automatically (and it already tries to do a lot of it), having to edit a text file can't be that bad a price to pay for its functionality surely? Especially for an ex programmer. And I genuinely don't mean that in a nasty way.

Hey Ian, thanx for the clarification. As once being a new user, I had much to figure out. I don't think that newer users should have such a difficult time to get their system up, configured, installing plug ins, etc.. It seems to me that most users of this entire package are technically inclined, and am sure that most of us have contributed to Sub's work. If I did not possess some technical knowledge and prior debugging, etc.., I could not have been able to make nPVR work for me. What about the mainstream public? What can we "ALL" do to communicate better, and not make it so technically challenging for newbies?

Oh btw, how about having Submenu save an .xml file with current config.xml settings and have a selectable option within npvr's plug in settings to run a comparison and ability to update the config.xml's submenu section?

I was referring more to building a proper GUI config screen for it, but if all you want is the ability for it to detect new plugins and have them automatically added to the config file, then try this patch. It also (finally) allows entries with enabled="false" to be ignored, and allows you to change the logging level too.

You obviously still have to mess with the xml if you want to build sub menus, disable plugins, or move the order of things around.

Hey Imline. I have some ideas for new menu replacement features, would you be oj with sharing the source code?

Also, is the 'Activation' step a temporally work around or is this the only way to get a replacement menu plugin working in NextPVR?
