I opened next PVR, tuned to a channel, changed the channel to another channel, the problem I described above occurred, I closed nextPVR and made the files.

Unless it was running in the background or the NextPVR app in the system tray did something in the time I closed the program and zipped the logs?

whurlston,
Thanks for the tip, I'll zip the entire folder next time.

I will do it when I get home form work today. I think I will also take a video and post it on youtube to show you what is going happening on my end, it is easier than trying to describe it to you.

Thats not what your npvr.log shows. It just shows you starting the app, and doing nothing further.

I don't know what happened then. I will try again this evening and hope I get the correct log.

Ok so I reproduced the problem again tonight and have attached the entire log folder right after I closed NEXTPVR.

I also made a video of what is happening and posted it on youtube so you guys can see for yourselves.

As you can see it seems to work, just takes a really long time to switch between channels (30-40seconds).

Are you sure that it is not a signal issue, I think the 0 means no data or end-of-file.

Code:

Martin

I am not sure of anything as I am very new to all of this.

If you watch the youtube video you will see that when I use Quick TV (and HD Homerun preview channels) in the set up with VLC media player) I am able to tune to channels right away, pretty much instantly. Then I open Next PVR and it takes for ever to tune to the same channels.

Is it possibly an issue with Next PVR not communicating with the HDHomerun tuner efficiently?

Can you try some decoders other than the LAV decoders? I've personally seen these decoders giving some strange long delays while changing channels.

My HDHomeRun changes channels pretty much straight away. ie, a second or so. I'm sure it's something else.

Thanks again for the reply.

I am willing to try anything. I just Downloaded the LAV decoders as I saw on this forum that those were the ones to use.

I have used FFDshow initially and seemed to have the same problem.

What decoder should I use and where to get them?

I was looking at hoborg's SAF6 http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?50227 but it seems to use the LAV decoders.

as a general rule, everything just works better with Windows 7, and you'd have the Microsoft DTV-DVD decoders to use which work really well. however, as you have XP....

some have suggested the Cyberlink PDVD12 decoder, which you can get if you download the trial version of PowerDVD12. SAF6 also includes it somehow, but I think you have to PM hoborg to get it "unlocked".
