I have it set to 720p. So, it has to be something else. I will post the npvr log, xbmc log and the .ts file when I get home. Maybe that will shed some light on my issue.

I just thought about it, I have the HDPVR set to "Variable" bit rate, I wonder if constant bit rate would make a difference??

I use VBR and it is fine.

Did some testing and the same thing happens when I use media portal. Martin, do you use optical or composite for the audio? The .ts files that the hdpvr produce speed up, then slow down over and over when played on XBMC (Android, pi, windows, and openelec on ion machine), but plays fine on Windows media player.

I use optical. I earlier watched 1+ hours of hockey 720p live tv over wifi and didn't notice any glitch. 40 minutes into Homeland on my Pivos XS right now fine too.

I wish I could get this working. Do you mind sharing your driver version number for the HDPVR and your bitrate settings?

I have optical in, component video fixed 720p using the latest Hauppauge drivers feeding into a Vista 32 bit backend with one of the early C2D CPUs. My STB is a SA 4250HD with firewire turning. Not all my backend's USB ports work well, but since you say you can play with WMC that is not a issue. It works well with wired but I need a reasonable signal for wifi.
I didn't always have good luck with XBMC it would constantly hang when tuning when the channel change was recorded. I fixed this by having my external tuner delay long enough (~4 seconds) for the change to register before returning toe NextPVR for recording. Martin

If I take the .ts file that is created with the HDPVR(that XBMC can't play) and remux it to mkv. XBMC plays it fine. It has to be a XBMC DVDPlayer issue since I get the same result with MediaPortal as the backend.
I guess I am stuck with Windows Media Center for a little while longer Here is the .ts file https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ufn9l734l6x2bvs...-1.ts?dl=1

That file stutters a bit for me in xbmc too when they stretch/shrink inset video. NexyPVR works as does mpc-hc which I have set up as a external player in xbmc so I don't need wmc!
