network recorder not showing in devices after following instructions

Just figured it out. Permissions to the Public\NPVR folder were not allowing config file to be modified even though I was logged in as an admin user which is strange. I see the network recorder in the devices now. On with the next step. Thanks for your help.

Ok great, nextpvr and most plugins count on the data directory being fully read/write for all users so don't lock it down too much.

Can you direct me to any threads that discuss live tv picture freezing?

I got a little further and setup the Network Recorder in the devices using a Schedules Direct account. The channels loaded but the EPG says "no show details". When I go to watch a channel, I get picture and sound for a second or 2 and then it freezes.

Sounds like you still need to map channels to the epg in Setup->Channels

Are you using SageDCT 2.7.1?

Not close, that's 2.0. There is an early adopter version 2.7.1 http://babgvant.com/files/folders/limite...fault.aspx that you need to register for that is designed for apps like xbmc but you should at least find 2.6.0

If you are getting video in NextPVR which does need 2,7 though you might get better luck by upping the delay in NetwoekRecorder.xml to 5000

I registered to download 2.7.1 but even after logging in, I get "You do not have permissions to perform the requested action" when I try to download

Did you also register for Early Access http://babgvant.com/Wiki/view.aspx/Early_Access ? If you now have 2.6.0 installed you can continue testing with NextPVR

OK. Registered for early access and installed 2.6.0 while wait for access to 2.7.1 to become active. Channels are mapped and EPG looks good. Picture and sound from live tv still freezes after 2 seconds. any ideas?

Did you change the delay to 5000? Also did you confirm you have post r2 running? If those don't do it, compress and upload your logs playing a file and I will have a look.
