how do i use short-skip in livetv? what setting should i use for timeshift in config? is vlc required on server?
[or is short skip even possible..like left/right arrow in pvr addon]
just having hard time skipping livetv at all on my new rpi2b..
left/right skipping works fine on pvr-addon livetv..as does smooth ff/rw..

Timeshifting should work in timeshifting mode and in PVR mode if the PVR addon is enabled with timeshifting. x-newa timeshifting mode does require vlc and also that your recording directory be shared, you might need to tweak the settings, Kodi isn't great at growing files even with smb.

pvr mode never starts for me, didn't have vlc installed so i'll see if that fixes timeshift mode..i could pause, but seeks never worked..
directory is shared, and i think i have advancedsettings.xml path substitution setup right, but will have to hunt down the logs to confirm..

oh, and what about comskip? where does that work?
i have edl files and the comskip setting for xbmc, so wondering what i'm missing?

To quote a good message from the Kodi forums, "without logs the problem never happened" PVR mode won't work if LiveTV is disabled.

You don't need advancedsetting.xml for this to work, newa will send back the proper share to use if it is configured.

There are already several posts on setting up advancedsettings.xml for comskip.
