Anyway, here's the complete channel dump. I think this way of mapping channels is a dead end, at least my provider (Canal Digital cable) has the nasty habit of moving channels around now and then, thus changing frequency, ID etc. so the mapping will stop working the next time it happens. The real channel names, on the other hand, does not change so if npvr used those....

As I understand it, the "DVB Triplet" (ONID/TSID/SID) are supposed to be unique to a specific channel/station around the world (i.e. they are independent of the provider or the tuning information). See the post here for more information.

So, even if Canal Digital changes the frequency, local channel number, etc., the DVB Triplet should remain the same and should still get matched correctly by NextPVR.

Maybe they should, but I know for a fact that the SID has changed along with frequency more tan once.

They usually don't change these IDs, even when they move channels to a different frequency. Sure, they can, but it's still the best option for these channels mappings.

This is also the same scheme used by some of the large commercial TV listing providers, so is really the recommended approach.

I honestly don't see why this should be the best approach, the channel name NEVER changes.

It can match on name too, but you'd be surprised how poorly these match. There is lots of minor variations on names, or different broadcasters can use different names. ie, you might find the same channel has different naming on DVB-S/DVB-T/DVB-C etc, but Schedules Direct always returns the same single channel name across all three. From the examples I've seen, about 60% of channels match on name.
