I'll figure it out, I'm sure there's a conflict in there somewhere, but as I'm still new to this I've got another question:

1. Is there some sort of a way to call what BTV calls a postprocessing script? As in calling Comskip to mark/cut commercials?

2. And is there a way for NPVR to see the markup file? As there isn't am option in Comskip for a file compatible with NPVR.

1. NPVR executes batch files for certain events - see here on the wiki
2. I don't use Comskip, but many other NPVR users do... I'm sure someone will give you guidance...

Have Comskip generate an .edl file. If NextPVR finds an .edl file, then it will use it. Also note: The .edl file format has 3 fields: start time, end time, and "skip type". If I recall correctly, the values for the "skip type" are: 1 = cut, 2 = mute, 3 = skip. For native NextPVR playback, it doesn't matter what the value is. However, if you (might) use a Kodi client, then the recommended value is 3 (put "edl_skip_field=3" in your comskip.ini file). For Kodi, if you use the default value of 1, then it will completely cut out the identified sections (i.e. the total length of the recording reported will be the length of the actual recording less the length of all the cut points) and there is no way to actually view the cut sections (such as if Comskip incorrectly identified a breakpoint). With the value of 3, Kodi will behave the same way that NextPVR does and keep the entire video, but just automatically skip of the identified cut points the first time that they are encountered. That way, it a point is wrong, you can simply use the player's rewind/backup functionality to view that portion of the recording.

Alex

I can't believe that - I look through that sucker and even searched for postprocessing and nothing came up. Must'a been a spelling mistake................

Thanks.

GREAT MANY thanks for the finely detailed input. Got a test bed behind me that I can copy over a 1/2 hour something and comskip it and play.

NOW if I can find a command file to control the DTV IRD, I'm aces.

************************************************ update ********************************

Installed in the HTPC, and got live TV to start the HD-PVR, showing (the wrong channel) but working. Then I set up the channels and the (I hope) Serial <-> USB IRD controller and now it just sits on Please Wait, when starting Live TV.
I've put my settings back to as default as I can remember - how do I go about troubleshooting this?

OK - new questions, if anyone reading this:

1. Can I use an external player (zplayer) instead of the built-in?

2. Is there an OSD that works in the Live TV Module?

3. How do you set the video qualities for an Happaugue HD-PVR?

4. Can you import video's recorded from another sourse, (BeyondTV) rather then having to list them in Recording?

I DID search - a lot, but almost everything I came up with had to do with GBPVR and was around 8 years old.

Thanks.

No.

Quote:2. Is there an OSD that works in the Live TV Module?
What do you mean?

Quote:3. How do you set the video qualities for an Happaugue HD-PVR?
You can tweak the bitrates in the <Mode720p>, <Mode1080i> and <ModeSD> settings in config.xml.

Quote:4. Can you import video's recorded from another sourse, (BeyondTV) rather then having to list them in Recording?
If you dont want them in Recordings, you can point a video library directory at them and just play them as regular files.

When I'm watching LiveTV and I tap say 735 to change channel, or click pause, nothing happens - as far as telling me via OSD.

If I want to change to channel 32, I can type 32 and see it on the screen, then after a second or so it'll change channels. As well as the numbers, I also get OSD info at the bottom of the screen when the channel changes, showing the channel icon and the name/number of the channel, and the show that is currently airing.
