I have not had an out of space message and the actual files are as expected. It's the tray icon that says it's still recording and any attempt to shut down windows will in fact be prevented by NPVR. (Windows says NPVR is recording so wont just kill it) You can force it of course but it seems a slightly different issue to what you have described. To be clear, recordings are as expected in terms of size, but for some reason the recording service "thinks" it's still going.

On my machine the remote puts the system to sleep during an active recording. I see the power button toggling. Then the next scheduled recording wake the machine up and records normally. Issue is the show recording at the time of putting it to sleep never ends. Windows 10, hauppauge quad, I-7 4770, fanless gt 730, 8 gig memory. Older machine, but still pretty quick.

I have 3 other machines, and they all have the same behavior.

Does sound like a different issue, hope it is not contagious.

I've just been trying the last couple of hours to reproduce this, but no luck so far. If anyone can spot more of a pattern, let me know.

yeah i have my computer sleep, restarting the recording service changes the tray icon and clears the devices in use, but it seems like when this happens it prevents the computer sleeping properly for me until i restart the computer.

edit: i have all the timers set through kodi as well if that makes a diff

Can you have an experiment, to see if forcing a sleep during recording causes it?

1. manual recording from kodi force pc to sleep and wake pc up before the end of recording = all good
2. 2 manual records running at the same time force pc to sleep and wake it up after recording finish = all good.

could recording during an epg update or missing data in the epg guide potentially cause issues? with this problem?

yes mine goes to into hibernation when inactive for more than 20 mins. Having said that, when it's in the state where it thinks it's recording and in fact isn't, it does not hibernate. This is actually how I picked this up as it should almost always be hibernated first thin in the morning but I was finding it still on when the last recording had finished some hours earlier

Fortunately, I haven't seen this problem here, but I've been following this thread. I'm wondering if Martin was on to something with noticing that in all the cases he was seeing, there were back-to-back recordings and no StopStream() log messages for the first recording.

And then I'm wondering if it might somehow be related to the fix you put into this latest version for the problem with the HDHR where when you had back-to-back recordings on different channels on the same tuner, the 2nd recording would change to the new channel, but the original recording would continue and the remaining post-padding part of it would be from the new channel.

When 4.0.4 came I out, I did do a quick test, and it appeared that now in my scenerio, the first recording would stop (and call PostProcessing.bat) immediately when the tuner changed the channel for the 2nd recording. So it seemed my problem was fixed. But my recording volume is also down at the moment, so I rarely have the situation where pre- and post-padding can't be honored. So it hasn't had much real-world testing.

i was greeted by a computer thats on when it should be sleeping this morn. i had a recording set 'mummy mysteries' between 3.30-4.00am and 7 hours later its still hogging the tuner. i had a second recording 'fim mxgp championship' set 3.10-4.10am and that finished fine. btw epg set to update at 3.30am as well.
