Using a Roku Express I observe the following success and issues with remote control within live TV:
BACK - Stop Live TV and return to menu (as documented).
HOME - Returns to main Roku menu and remembers previously selected screen (as documented - but does not actually enter the previous screen, just highlights it in menu).
UP - Shows List of channels then navigates up the list. Does not change channel.
DOWN - Shows List of channels then navigates down the list. Does not change channel.
LEFT - Short Skip back (10 s by default)* (as documented).
RIGHT - Short Skip forward (10 s by default)* (as documented).
OK - Show Info bar and timeline (as documented - but see below).
RETURN - Previous Channel (as documented - but only once - does not toggle between last two channels).
LONG RETURN - Record current show (as documented).
* - Roku native options menu.
LONG * - Nothing.
REW - Nothing - documented as previous channel.
FWD - Nothing - documented as next channel.
After pressing OK, info, timebar and controls are shown. You cannot manually close this. One might expect the back button to close the display. There are controls on the display that the up/down/left/right/ok buttons sometimes access but these buttons also perform their normal actions, e.g. show channel list. One should be able to navigate the status display.
