For that error you might need to also install .net 8 manually, NScripthelper is only configured for basic use.

Disabled the security and changed the syntax with quotes. Realized I had an old version of the nscripthelper.exe from 2021. Found a link to a newer 2022 version in another post and used that. All good now.

Anything a web browser does you can do yourself with appropriate scripting but you need to figure out the REST parameters. If it requires a POST you won't be able to use NScripthelper

I upgraded to NPVR v. 7.x but the NScriptHelper.exe was the one from 2021. Where can I get the v7 version?

Maybe you didn't upgrade. Does it show 7.0 on the main Settings page? If not maybe you have NPVR.zip in the folder with the installer.
