Quote:A guy from Sweden has joined our office this week on three month transfer and I was talking to him about setting up cable, etc. When I showed him the charter package - 3M down, 256k up - he couldn't stop laughing about it and showed me his provider in Sweden; 10M down, 3M up for less than I pay here!
In the UK some companies are bringing in ADSL 2/2+ so if you live near enough to the exchange you get 24meg for £25 which is approx US $40 with no data limits. The only downside is the companies providing this are not exactly known to have good customer services. You can get 10 meg cable for £35 if you live in an area provided by the one cable company that offer this speeds. Considering only 2 years ago 2meg connection would cost your £50, the UK seem to be catching up with the rest of the world. I wouldn't recommend moving to the UK though unless you like drizzly cold days and high prices for everything else.

Yahoo! Japan BroadBand TV is the best service by far - 100 Mbps for less than $85/month! Cool On a trip to Tokyo I used Vonage over that kind of broadband connection and the voice quality was pin drop crystal clear. My auto mechanic never even knew I was talking to him from Tokyo.

Jumping in a little late, but I just came across this thread. I just set up the 150 with a Dish Network 322 and it works great. In the IR Blaster Configuration utility, make sure the vendor is "Dishnet" and use code set 0088. I also went into the Advanced configuration and reduced the inter-digit delay to 50 ms because changing channels seemed to take an eternity, but that's just personal preference.

One thing about the 322 is that Tuner 1 is controlled via IR, but Tuner 2 is controlled through a UHF remote, so you can only control Tuner 1 with GBPVR. This works okay for me, as I have Tuner 1 going to my computer and Tuner 2 going right to my DVD/VCR.

By the way, do other people have trouble getting the IR blaster to stick to their STB? I ended up having to use electrical tape to keep it put (it blends in with the black box).

jayk Wrote:I have a Dish Network 322. The standard IR blaster that comes with the 150 does not control the STB. I needed to buy a USBIRT. Plugged it in and...it works fine. If I were to get dish all over, I'd stay away from the dual tuner boxes and make them give me single tuner boxes. A lot less headaches and more configuration options.
