What's needed exactly? I'm not really familiar with what this player is expecting, or how it behaves in this scenario, so I'd really need more info from others.

I'm trying to look into this but just found out that my streamer for test isn't capable of streaming growing files at all.
Without a working streamer to start with there is not much I can do to help.

But if I can get my streamer going with growing files...
The first thing I would test would be to make sure the same content-length was returned for let say the first 5 seconds. Trying to fool the player into that the file is static and not growing.
Content-Range: bytes 0-871530399/871530400
Content-Length: 871530400

Maybe adding duration to the headers, if they aren't already there, would ensure the player that no peeking around trying to determine the duration will be needed.

X-Content-Duration: 2054.53
Content-Duration: 2054.53

Well, it turns out that my test streamer, once fixed to handle reading a file that is simultaneously written to, do stream in-progress recordings to my BD-F6500 without any of my suggested changes.

So there is hope. Smile
Now we need to find out what differs in subs streamer from mine.

Good to know. Let me know what you find, and I'll adjust NextPVR to make it behave the same way in this scenario.

It is possible but I currently have no plans of adding that option. You can always hit navigate-left one time to go back 15 secs. One reason for not adding the feature is that instant skipping 10 or something seconds several times in a row isn't very well handled by the player.

The problem with the progressive skipping is not that it doesn't stop when you stop hitting the key, the problem is that the screen isn't updated making you hit the button to many times.
If you use it for a while you will learn that a certain amount of times hitting the key always result in the same amount of time to skip.
6 times render a 5 min skip and 7 times a 10 min skip.
I'm aware of the lag in updating the screen and will try to address this in a future version.

I guess I don't really understand. The instant skip options of "skip 10s" and "skip 30s" are already present. I would just like to be able to select them independently for the forward and back. For example, press the FF button and it skips 30s and press the REW button and it skips 10s back.

I haven't really had a problem with hitting it too many times. I was actually referring to the delay before the jump/skip is made. That is, I hit it twice to jump 30s, and then it seems to take around 2-3 s for it to jump forward in the video. I would like to be able to reduce this delay, if possible.

I can see your point in being able to set independent options for FF and RW.
But I don't think the short skipping is working well enough to deserve more options added to it.
If you hit a FF or RW button for more than 2 times in rapid sequence you will end up shorter than you expected.
This is because the key presses are not buffered in combination with the behavior of the Samsung player.

At some point in the future I will have to refactor the way settings are managed. I'll keep the request for independent skipping options in mind.

In the current design the delay can differ from 2 to 3 seconds because it is triggered by the same routine that also updates the OSD once every second.
A simple change without refactoring would result in between 1-2 sec delay where 1 sec is too short to be user friendly.
On top of this depending on your Smart TV model the actual seek may take a few seconds or more.

I have no current plans of refactoring this but I'll add it to the wish list for future versions.

I finally was able to watch several recordings to the end on my new Samsung F-series TV and unfortunately skipping is too problematic on this TV. It seems like whenever I get past the 30 minute mark, skipping just stops working (it doesn't respond to skips and sometimes playback gets stuck). If I stop and try to resume then resume is not successful and I have to start from the beginning even with "auto skip to target" set to 2 or 4. I realize you can't fix the shortcomings of the F-series player but just thought I would share my experiences.

Yes, it's a shame the F-model player is so unreliable.
I've spent many hours trying to iron out these F-quirks and in my opinion it has gone from almost useless to somewhat acceptable (if you know the shortcomings).

For comparison, why don't you install MediaBrowser3 and play the recordings trough their Samsung client?
If it can handle the F-model I might get some ideas of what to change.

I did try MB3 and it has similar behavior with these recordings: skip stops working past a certain point and resume is unsuccessful. On further testing, it seems to be something peculiar with many of my recordings which I will start a separate thread about.
