XRecord and duplicates

What are the .dat files? Are they something xrecord or the cdkscheduler creates?

By the way, there is an undocumented feature in the video archive plug-in that can be used to delete a file and clear it for rerecording. When you are on the info screen that shows the delete button, if you select the delete button and press the record key instead of the ok button it will ask you if you want to delete the file and allow it to be rerecorded in the future. I use this when I have a bad recording of something and want to clear it out and try again later. This won't work for things that are deleted through some other method.

The .dat files are created by XRecord.

Doing a comparison between what has been recorded and what is in Rectracker would be do able, I would suggest that this be part of the RecTracker.exe program which Jorm maintains mostly. Jrock and I tag team on CDK Scheduler since we put the most time and effort into that, and help out Jorm when we can . The comparison would only be as good as the information that is in the database. So reloading the RecTracker DB would be do able but deleting, might be a bit more difficult, since RecTracker doesn't have a link to the show on the hard drive that was recorded or deleted, so wouldn't know which show to delete automatically.

Right now I don't have a huge amount of spare time with work, so it may be a while before I get a chance to add it. I would suggest putting in a feature request at CDK Scheduler and XSuite's sourceforge site:

This way, when Jorm, Jrock or myself get some spare time we can get it added to the correct program. Otherwise, it'll probably get lost and we'll forget about it.

I added some code to the video archive plug-in a while back to auto-import .dat files if it finds one with a .mpg file and doesn't find any info in the GBPVR database for the recording. However, I don't use xrecord so I never tested the code. It may work, or it may not...

rectracker does have a command line. XRecord allows you to view the rectracker database and delete stuff.

As for if the drive crashes what is on the disk will not help unless we dont keep any of the duplicate info beyond what is currently available. How do you see that working? It only adds it to the database if recorded successfully.
