I've been giving vidimport a go these last couple of days to help find orphaned recordings. However I find that it seems to find all recordings rather than ignoring those already in the exports file. So an import creates masses of duplicates.

When I come to import the newly created file with gbpvr config then all the recordings are imported. Attached is my batch file, dump files and log.
The only slight oddity to me is the upped and lower case drive letter - I'm not sure what sub uses in his import routine to say what is a new file or not.

If I import and export to get a new recordings file from gbpvr and run vidimport again, it spots teh new entries as duplicates and no more are imported.

Very kind of you.

Which mountains - around here there are storm warnings - both wind and snow on high ground.

These are from my test machine with only four recordings. I can do more or less what I like to it
whereas I have to be very careful of the live machine or I will get thumped!

Code:
F:\gbpvr>vidimport f:\gbpvr outfile.xml imdb=off import=off xmlin="E:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\recording-dump.xml"
vidImport.exe version 1.01
Recursing directory/file: f:\gbpvr
Default Xmlin = E:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\recording-dump.xml
Settings used:
----> Gbprv Dir = E:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\
----> Gbpvr Recording File = E:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\recording-dump.xml
----> Show File = E:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\showDetail.txt
----> Autoimport = False
----> XmlOut = outfile.xml
----> ImdbLookup = False
----> Autoimport = False
----> Season Prefix = .s
----> Epsiode Prefix = e
----> Episode Suffix = .
----> Include Season in Episode = False
----> Starting dir/file = f:\gbpvr
Checking for gbpvr export file:E:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\recording-dump.xml
Reading gbpvr export: E:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\recording-dump.xml
Recursing: f:\gbpvr
Adding Dancing on Ice - The Skate Off_20090118_21302200.mpg to list of recordings.
Adding FilmThe Santa Clause 2_20081225_11251305.mpg to list of recordings.
Adding FilmToy Story 2_20081224_18051930.mpg to list of recordings.
Adding Friends_20090118_21302200.ts to list of recordings.
Writing show file E:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\showDetail.txt

I was in Utah in the Rockies at the Sundance Film Fest , loads of fun and nearly spring break skiing (40 deg Fahrenheit)

- can you post your recording-dump.xml as well - that's where it looks for dups?

Thanks,

You're suffering from your winter break - the recording-dump.xml is in the zip file with the others Big Grin

Wow, I am surprised you are the only one to complain about the issue. I switched a variable to a hashtable from another kind of list and mucked up the duplicate check. I didn't notice since I haven't done a full re-import in a while. At any rate 1.2 on the wiki should work correctly.

Great - it works a treat - so many thanks for the timely fix.

I guess with a utility like this that doesn't get used daily or updated weekly it was just sods law that it fell over for me at the time. I did have a much earlier version but decided to start afresh and grabbed what was new.

thanks again.
