wtg Wrote:Thanks for the tip. By the way, as an enhancement request, could you have comskip write all the output files instead of just the .txt file when the user saves their changes? You provide lots of output options when it runs in automated mode (I'm using the edl option for feeding into mencoder), but it appears only to write the .txt when saving manual marks.

For now I just wrote a simple perl script to create the .edl from the .txt, but I'm sure others would probably find the feature useful too.

Thanks again for all the time you devote to comskip. It's quite remarkable.
Pleas check which version you are running, should have been solved some time ago.

Last night I tried the -w option of comskip. it showed the cutlist editor. I was really amazed!

I saw that comskip did recognize the commercials 100% right, but my own settings were too weak. Now I know that comskip can do it really good.

I changed my mind: Just creating manual marks is perhaps not that important.

New Idea:

Since tuning of comskip is very time consuming it would be great to have the functionality of the comskip-cutlist editor in gbpvr. The aim is to tune comskip.

for everybody who did not see that editor:
comskip shows more marks than just the commercial. there are many marks which could possibly be correct for commercials AND trailers.

The task should now be to choose the right positions and store the settings for those in the comskip.ini
this could be done for every channel.

I know that sub is not very interested in this feature, but I am sure that a very big amount of gbpvr-friends would love that.

If You agree and want such a feature: please tell it here to convince the boss...

Narkuma.

The idea is simple but the implementation is not possible.
The algoritm translating the measurements into the decision between show or commercial for a certain segment is too complex to be easily improved by human feedback.
One of the reasons is that broadcasters do not always broadcast in the same way so there is always need for human intelligence to decide what should be done.

Is there a way to edit the .txt cutlist file by hand or via a gui without having to rescan the mpeg using the -w option? I have a two minute padding on the end of my recordings so comskip works great, but I end up with a bit of the next program in my recordings when I use comclean. It's not a major issue, but it would be nice to be able to flag everything after the credits as a commercial.

If you start comskip with the .txt file as single parameter you start comskip in cutlisteditmode
Then you are able to edit the cutpoints without scanning the whole file again.
The previewwindow will show where you are in the file and you can change/delete/edit commercials.
And you can save them again.

W.r.t. your postpadding.

The definition of "credits" is rather vague for comskip but if you are sure there is always a "commercial" after the recording you want to keep you can set
delete_show_after_last_commercial=1; delete the last block if its a show and after a commercial
which will tell comskip to do what it says.

Thanks for the info on loading the cutlist to avoid rescanning.

To make myself a bit clearer, the program I am trying to clean up always follows this format: commercial, program with no commercials (roll credits at the end), commercial, beginning of next program (due to padding). What I'd like to do is remove the last commercial and the beginnng of the next program as comclean does an excellent job at flagging the commercial at the beginning (and the end as well).
