One way to see if it is in line21 is to burn a DVD then play it on a standalone DVD player.

The line21 decoder in graphedit gets the closed captions so I'm assuming it's line21 captions at this point.

sub Wrote:CC subtitles are definitely in that file. I see these subtitles in GB-PVR when running on PC, with intervideo decoder + VMR9.

mvpmc mustnt understand that CC format yet.

Yes, after a bit of research on this I realize the I know that the image based DVD subtitle is just one of many formats. With the info on the geocities link that pastro posted I think that mvpmc could handle these and retain the screen position provided. Coding this might actually be fun and I'll deal with this with the mvpmc team.

Thanks,

Martin

You might want to message merrypig on the sagetv forum. He might be able to provide some code to help you out since he wrote mpg2srt already.
If you do write the code, you might want to try and fix the rollup problem as well.

Given that merrypig is doing this as donation ware, see the page http://www.htpctools.com/mpg2srt/ I'd be uncomfortable asking, given that my code will be open source. If I run into difficulties I might ask for tips.

If I add support is has to be based on me capturing line21 info with my PVR 150 which right now isn't happening. If you can identify US stations with the various CC formats roll up, popup etc that would be good. BTW I'm Canadian too so it will all be based on how Rogers (my cable provider) processes the signal.

The CC format will depend on the broadcaster and show and not the cable or sat provider. What I can maybe do is identify certain shows that have roll-up and certain ones that have the other formats. I wonder if the guy that made rtvcc.exe for the ReplayTV would be willing to help.

Well I can't find contact info for wen-king, the creator of rtvcc.exe. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/member.php?u=7426015

I actually tried rtvcc yesterday on sub's sample with no luck.

Previously when I had stated that RTV 5XXX mpegs have CC I had forgot about the rtvcc.exe step. Rtvcc converts the RTV style CC to regular CC. It won't do anything to mpeg's Sub has. Sorry for misleading you there :o However I was hoping that Wen-king had some insight on getting the MVP to read CC, but he has no contact info.
