Fullscreen only - wrong aspect ratio

Unless I'm misinterpreting this info, that's not what I'm seeing. If you look at the pics on posts #16 and #18 you will see that the video within the window is not the correct aspect ratio. This remains the case as I toggle through all the F7 options. The video changes within the window and the black side or top bars change within the window, but no matter what, the faces still look squashed too thin and incorrect.

I believe I would like to see that (channeling Forrest Gump ) any I would guess sub does too,maybe you could do it with a DVD with a THX calibrator (Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.) it has a nice TV aspect ratio thing (the screen with the 5 circles), that would give us a good, known image to compare.

Does this mean that I can't watch on the host PC's 4:3 crt with the correct picture aspect without Ted the P's everytime bodge?

You may want to make sure that you have configured your MVP to use 16:9 (through the hauppauge software) and then also use MVPScreenPosition to make sure you have a nice yellow border all the way around your wide screen...

Then as the guys have said, set the config to 4x3 for CRT and you should have things looking fine...

i had this issue on my CRT tv as long as i used donge.bin. perhaps you should give mvpmc.bin a try!

Lenor is correct that in several countries mvpmc will auto-detect the WSS signal and adjust the MVP's aspect ratio.

The TV Shape setting has no effect on the MVP, so you don't need to worry about changing it having any effect on the TV connected to the MVP.

That's worth knowing. I didn't realize that. I had in the back of my mind that the TVShape setting would affect the stored recordings irreversibly. I'll try and put this to bed soon and move on to the MediaMVP next. Thanks.
