td911 what are the file names in that dir? what language is your operating system using? (it might be special characters creating the problem eg that ae character).

I think I'm still doing something wrong, or there's something I'm missing.

Not using scan, I have tried these combos using ctrl + O, TV Info, TV Tome/Episode Lookup

Dead Like Me 2x06.avi
Dead Like Me - 2x06.avi
Dead Like Me 2-06.avi
Dead Like Me - 2-06.avi

Same goes for L&O (and vars like CI), and reno 911. I can do browse, of course.

Not trying to make this an issue, as you've got plenty going on. More FYI, in case it's not just user error.

episode lookup requires you to know the episode name, not just the show and the episode number. eg "Enterprise - 2x02" isnt enough info you need "Enterprise - Carbon Creek". otherwise you have to use episode browse. this feature is mostly for people who download episodes, which i assume they name the files correctly, recording off tv you usually have the info so theres no need to look it up.

Reven,

All of my Movies are in a \Videos\ Directory
I have 5 Sub-Directories,
I am able to access all except: \Videos\TV Movies\

Filenames are:

BASEketball.mpg
Brian's_Song.mpg
Ed_Wood.mpg
Farewell_to_the_King.mpg
It_Happened_One_Night.mpg
You_Can't_Take_It_with_You.mpg

Ok...I'm understanding better now.

If you have time in the next version, it would be great to see that scan function enhanced. When it does work, using just name - SxEE.mpg, it is a really powerful and fun tool for new users.

Thx for taking the time to explain.

ill look into it, but its not an easy thing to do, sometime tv tome uses the absolute episode number eg season 2 episode 1 = episode 23 (in a season with 22 episodes). its not really an easy thing, but i will look into it, there is an issue like how do i know that the second part of the filename is the season and episode and not the episode name? some people use s03e24 some use 3x04 some us 304 some use 34 some use 3.04 the list goes on, not really a thing i can easily check for.

I understand. I am a web programmer, and my life is nothing but dealing w/ how ppl want to input info, and not how you need it to be. You could probably do a little replacement work, auto-swapping #e## for #x##, etc, but there will always be limits.

If you were to do it as best as possible, and told ppl how to format name - ep.mpg, then most can use file renamers to clean up. If tome stil doesn't like, then that's the limit.

I looked, but my brain is already taxed out programming a message board (irony): is there a way to edit the skin to bring the episode broswer closer to the front? I don't mind doing myself. It would just be nicer than going 3 steps per show (and the up/downs), even using a keyboard.

yeah but if people have to rename there files to suit a format, why not just add the subtitle?  ill probably be able to do something, if cant find via subtitle (it currently goes thru about 5 different checks) ill try using it as an episode name.

in the skin.xml there is a section called "popupmenu" (or something like that), you can move these around anyway you like (just keep their names as is, if you want to change the names, translate them in the language.xml),  the submenus (ie the elements with children) can have any name you wish, it will test by the name if it should be shown or not, this part is really skinnable, remove the stuff you dont use, completely redesign the popup menu, do whatever you like, if you do something and it stuffs up, just let me know ill help you fix it.

darrin75 it NEVER goes back from being seen to unseen, once you've seen the video, you've seen it.  this was just for me, i always forget which seinfeld episodes ive seen (they all start with "The ...", friends stole this and did "The one with ...&quotWink. the only way to do this is to either edit the database, or delete the entry, im curious why would you want to mark something you have seen so its unseen?

This may all be, and you've made me realize, a minority situation.  I just happen to have shows that are just name-ep# for the sake of not dealing w/ special characters, etc.  I just started thinking it was normal, since it matched how Episode Browse displayed info.

I don't think you need to spend any time on this for the few of us that it may effect.  I may just poke around and see if at the least I can reorder the menus to make getting to that option easier.

Again, thx for the help.  I've only had so many inquires because I enjoy your plugins so much.  Keep it up.

*** Read your edit above while I writing this....I found those portions and got it working so it's ctrl-O, enter, enter, enter, browse. Very cool...using Dreamweaver to color the code really helped. Thx again, again.
