Using the patch from your great sitcky thread: 2. correct skip timing

BTW, I'm not running comskip yet. Ithought I would chime in as skipping seem to be a bit of an npvr issue.

@sub, just a note:

the 2.0.3 upgrade blew the comskip offset entries out of my config.xml. I put them back, still seems to work fine.

Yep, it deletes any entries in the config.xml that arent in Config-master-dont-edit.xml (on the assumption they're old no-longer-used settings). I've added these to the Config-master-dont-edit.xml for the next release though, so they'll be retained.

I'm a little confused, is the skipping supposed to work in 2.0.3 or do I need to apply one of the patches? I use analog part of hvr-1600 with npvr 2.0.3 and skipping is driving me slightly insane. Forward and backward skip mostly go several minutes forward. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, the skipping in 2.0.3 is fine.

Do you maybe record on a FAT32 drive, or network drive? These have worse skipping than a local NTFS drive.

I've been wondering about this for ages, meaning to ask...
In GBPVR ctrl-F was forward 10? seconds; ctrl-D backwards 10 seconds. In 2.0.3 (at least on my system) the ctrl-F seems to be about 15 seconds, ctrl-R 3-4 seconds. Is this configurable and/or intended behaviour?

it's configurable in the <Playback> section of config.xml. It's probably also in the settings gui somewhere, but I've forgotten where.

That said, I continue to find that forward skips are about 3 seconds longer than they should be, and backwards skips are about 3 seconds short, as I fussed about earlier in this thread. 1.5.28+patches was the last time skipping really worked just perfectly in my view.

No this is on an NTFS partition (win7 32bit). Some recordings are fine (ie skipping backwards goes backwards), but in others skipping backwards goes forward and it gets worse towards the end of the recording (starts skipping by several mins to 20 mins per skip)
