I'm just back from a weeks vacation, so it will be a while before I can update and get some data for you. I'm glad you're still thinking about it because it is still occurring. Looking forward to 2.0 and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
What, me worry?

OK, don't want to let it get too quiet around here. I got 2.0.3 and mvpmcx2o installed last night. Made a few recordings and played around today to see if I could make it crash :p and I did. However, logs were not watching that MVP server.

I've tweaked comskip to have no skips at the end (or start) of a recording, and based on other crashes, I'm less suspect of comskip conditions now, but still not sure. It seems recently to occur after I finish watching a recording, delete it, then start watching a different recording - plays for 5-15 seconds (pch is unresponsive to remote) then crashes to black screen and must be rebooted. I don't know weather to blame/suspect the recording that crashes or the previously watched/deleted recording.

This weekend I'll try to reproduce and capture log info for you. Do you also want the comskip files and timing.info? Anything else?
What, me worry?

Yes, the changes I put in last time pretty much eliminated comskip as being a cause of the a problem at the end of the file, although it still can create a mess at the beginning.

Your symptoms sound different now though I thought before it was playing the same file that was causing the problem. Maybe for you it's just any recording.

If you cut 200 MB from the beginning of one file and 200MB of the beginning of another, can you play these back to back?

I don't remember if I asked, but do you have a hard disk in your PCH?

That was how I could reproduce it before

It does seem to be, but it does not happen all the time, just occasionally.

Do you mean when I can reproduce the crash, cut 200 MB off the beginning of the files to see if that resolves it?

No hard disk

I was asking about cutting simply to know if there was a manageable way of getting files to me. I am looking forward to seeing you new logs the screen sizing before was off so hopefully this corrected if you are using my new defaults.

I ended up with this for my A100 on SD, which keeps the skin looking a little more wide screen:
Code:
<MVPWidth>740</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>480</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>30</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>60</MVPOffsetY>
The A110 is still 1280x720 for HD.

So just logs of a crash will be enough for you to look at first, or do you want timing.info for the files also?
What, me worry?

Logs 1 attached show the wife finish watching Greek at 21:36, then she deleted it. Then at 22:15 I started Fringe and it crashed.

Both of these recordings were made with 1.5.36, so don't know if this is useful.

After reboot, I could watch Fringe fine, stop and start, couldn't make it crash. But it wasn't getting logged. I reset mvp servers down to 1, and logs 2 show me watching Fringe without problem.

Is this useful or do you only want recordings made with 2.0?

That's a useful baseline, and it is exactly what BrettB was reporting on 1.5.x I think we can now wait to see if the same behaviour happens on v2 files.

Made some recordings last night with 2.0.3. Watched them with PCH A110 this morning trying to produce crash :p. Several played fine, replayed, deleted, then got the crash. I think this was the sequence. Watched The Office_20110304_22002230, skipped to near the end, skipped back into the last marked comskip. Stopped playing, then restarted that same file, crashed at 09:22. Logs3 should show all this.

I think this is similar to how I noticed it first, when the last segment of a show is marked as commercial and I would skip back into the comskip to watch it, stop it, then the next file played would crash. But I don't think this is always the cause.

Rebooted the pch and watched that same recording with no problem. logs 4 should show that.

Edit: I'm not able to reproduce it with that file.
