It did allow the channel to scan and it found it, but it locked up NPVR after I clicked to get out of the scan window after it finished. I had to shut down the service to get out.

After restarting the service and opening NPVR again I could see the channel as 105. Trying to view it as live TV locked it up again. I had to shut down the service to get out again. Did that twice & restarted the entire system just to be sure. Same result.

Headed to bed, got to work in the morning!

Thanks for the help and BTW, I'm a bit envious of your cool temperatures down there, it's been 100+ the last 4 days here! The weather guy says relief is on the way though ... it's only going to be 95 the rest of the week...

Sub, played with it some more this morning and it works! I had to remove the 2 registry entries you wanted, they were just overloading the processor trying to write the files and play the HD TV. I'll try a full scan of the channels when I get home from work tonight.

Thank you so much!

sub, I'm just dieing to know, did it have anything to do with the length of the SID or it being greater than 0x7fff?

or to ask another way, how shall I describe this patch in the patch list?

No, it didnt have anything to do with the length of the SID. It related to NPVR not correctly handling a TS adaptation header that his broadcaster was using, which made it look like the PMT was invalid.

ok, so nothing to do with the hd homerun either.

for the patch list description I guess I'll just fall back on the old standby: "in certain conditions", which is code for "whatever this fixes I either don't completely understand, or would take too long to explain here".

No, nothing to do with HDHomeRun. Just give it a correct description like 'fixes a problem with scanning on ATSC/QAM which could cause channels to not be found".

Wahoooo! Big Grin

Just got done doing a QAM scan and it found all 23 clear channels and they all play and record fine too! Thanks so much for working through this with me!

The problem now is the poor little Core2duo 2.33mhz processor is really struggling with two HD feeds simultaneously recording and the post processing to MP4 Smile Not really a problem, it sounds like a good excuse to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad Yorkfield 3.00mhz to me Smile

I'm just running the stock MB NVIDIA GeForce 7150 chipset. Would a upgraded video card help off load some of the work or is there something else that might be a better grade?

I'll be your post processing to MP4 that is causing the bulk of this problem. Recording itself is pretty easy on a machine. Whether a upgraded video card would help really depends on the software you're using for the conversion (ie, if it uses video card GPU etc).
