as before, you'll have to post your logs. I pause livetv all the time for 5 minutes or more and have no trouble.

as to F8, it works for me. It won't work if you're in Live TV though, you have to be sitting in the menu. Only the TV Guide (F1) can be popped up over LiveTV.

You can switch Live TV to an 'inset' mode with the main menu visible by hitting 'Home' on the keyboard... or on an MCE remote it's the little key marked with an 'i'. Then from there you can get to Recordings. That mode is really a work-in-progress though as far as I can tell; I don't use it. The UI doesn't seem to accomodate the inset video window anywhere but the main menu.

@sub

I see he's using the Pinnacle decoders. Do you know if those are any good? I've not seen them mentioned before, but I've only looked at about .01% of the number of logs you have.

what video card do you have? if it's ATI/AMD, then I'd suggest the ATI MPEG Video Decoder, which will be available if you install the "AMD Media Codec Package" (it's on the Optional Downloads tab when you go to download the video card driver). For audio, try AC3Filter (http://www.ac3filter.net) - it works for both MP2 and AC3 audio.

Yes, I have an ATI card - Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (256 MB memory) - pretty old, it seems.

They don't offer the codec package for the 'legacy' cards. you could probably try downloading it anyway, don't know if it will install though. if you can get it installed, the decoder should work. if you've not already, install the latest driver for your card here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/wi...ng=English
then download the codec package by filling out the form here: http://www.amdsurveys.com/se.ashx?s=5A1E27D24A95B47F (as far as I know it doesn't matter what you put on the form).

you could also go with hoborg's SAF6 package: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?50227-Saf6
It's essentially ffdshow + LAV audio decoder. he doesn't promise really good XP support though, so YMMV.

by the way, just to be clear, I'm not saying I'm sure the Pinnacle decoders are causing you any problem. all I know is that you describe a problem I don't have and have not heard anyone else have, and there's nothing interesting in your logs other than the fact that you're using less common decoders, and sub can't vouch for them either. odd playback issues are frequently caused by decoders though, so there it is...

I looked around and I do have this decoder - ATI MPEG Video Decoder - and have set that in the settings. Still have problems not being able to move forward or backward after I pause, then play again. Perhaps I need a reboot. Will try that tomorrow - it's late and I have to go to bed. Also, one channel, ABC, gets EPG data and listings, the rest don't (even though the other channels are in my xml file). I don't know why that should be, but it's something else I have to look into (I'm using mc2xml.exe). Thanks for all your help.
