That's interesting because the WD Live supports passthrough for everything but DTS-MA and they claim it's a licensing issue but it is a little suspicious that you need a license when you are not doing any decoding (just bitstreaming).

I think the lack of DTS-MA support in all these devises is more a DRM issue with the insistence on a direct non interceptable path over HDMI.
It only works with LAV decoder by "borrowing" a TMT3 file -thanks Hob Smile
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

It expect it would be a license with Sigma who develop the SDK.

I got my replacement MVP-HD and using the supplied command line tools on the box, it will stream HD live tv including h264 from NextPVR's http interface without difficulty so at least that regard it seems like a capable box.

Cool. Do you have the means to test MKV playback and HD audio bitstreaming?

It's plays the mkv samples I have. I won't be hooking it up to my AVR for a while but as I wrote since I don't see MTS-HA in their spec, it's probably a better question for Hauppauge.

I don't necessarily trust what a Hauppauge support person would have to say so if you ever hook it up to an AVR please try this out (assuming, of course, that you can get the NextPVR interface running on it). Thanks.

Sorry, I am only really planning on reporting on the NextPVR interface on the MVP-HD and mpeg playback, I don't want to be involved in your purchases decisions about the things I don't control. I will happy enough if I can launch and control the supplied player.

Ok - but I wasn't going to hold you responsible for it not being able to bitstream DTS-HD Smile. I was just hoping you could see if it works for you since you had one in your possession...

Over the coming weeks I certainly will doing some more checking but I don't think it intended to be an advanced player, so my expectations are low. As an example it only has options to bitstream or PCM globally most players do it by audio type and most AVR's can't even handled bitstreamed AAC or Windows audio. I certainly would have like to see DVD ISO support and I think that is why Hauppauge needs to be engaged, if you want more.
