No but that is what I expected. Are you sure VLC is not being being blocked by a firewall? It needs to open (in this case) rtp://192.168.200.2:5012

This gives me something to pursue tomorrow. I made a first attempt at running
C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe -vvv rtp://192.168.200.2:5012 --sout file/ts:"C:\Temp\live-AMCHD-7033.ts" -I dummy
by hand. It did not succeed to display in vlc, but I did get some nice debug messages that I can fuss with.

It needed to enable "Allow Service to interact with Desktop" on the "Log On" tab for SageDCT service in the Windows 7 Computer Management-> Services and Applications -> Services application.

But that still didn't work. I was not too surprised since I could not play the .ts files with vlc directly, without first running it through ts4np. I tried taking SageDCT and NextPVR out of the equation by running:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe -vvv rtp://192.168.200.2:5012 --sout file/ts:"C:\Temp\test.ts" -I dummy
The test.ts file was created, but empty. I did verify that the tuner was playing the appropriate channel so I think a proper stream was being sent to vlc. I got a lot of debug msgs from vlc, if anyone is interested.

I am now trying to see if I can find an option to vlc that will clean the stream up in a manner similar to ts4np does, or find some other tool that can work on streamed files (or a pipeline). Even with ts4np I think there may be some stuttering in the video, but I'll worry more about that later.

The patch to SageTV (MpegDemux.ax or the LAV hack) still intrigues me a bit. I don't know if NextPVR can use it. Maybe that would solve my problem.

I need a longer rope for this hole I am digging.

I am in this exact same boat as you. I too have the ceton card and i can only get a second or two to play in npvr. I have also tryed all of the LAV codecs but no luck either. My main goal is to be able to use this in XBMC as well. I am able to get all of my guide data minus Channel logos.

I have 2 tuners assigned to WMC and then 2 tuners free. I am able to get the other tuners to work without the help of npvr via a home brewed tool that supports network streaming and in XBMC.

Please let me know if I can help or is you come up with something else.

@Riztnack, you're problem doesn't really sound the same to me. There's some many things to tackle, let's see about getting it working in NextPVR first before looking at XBMC. Please start by uploading your NextPVR logs.

Well I was wrong, it is similar and it really is the same thing that I hoped sub would look at in the previous logs. For whatever reason the logs show the duration staying fixed even though the file is growing.

2012-11-24 12:11:15.103 [DEBUG][1] GetDuration returning 2

That station is only SD so if you could put a 10 MB sample on Dropbox that might help.

You might need to write this up on the main forum, sub checks these threads out but he often passes on commenting.

Should I "record the file" then upload that file?

Recording for 20 seconds and cancelling should do what I need. Can you play the recorded files with NextPVR?
